Oct 26, 2014 2:17 AM in response to Klaus1by VanHoutte1337,I did all those things. I just did a fresh install of snow leopard on a brand new HDD and yet I receive the error "The version OS X 10.10 cannot b e installed on this computer".
I'd really want to install Yosemite.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards

To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.

Oct 26, 2014 10:23 AM in response to VanHoutte1337by Lanny,2012 Mac Pros did not ship with 10.6.8, they shipped with either Lion or Mountain Lion. So, if you're running 10.6.8, there is a good chance that your Mac Pro is not a Mid 2012 model.
Remember, the dates that Apple uses are for the model's introduction, not your purchase date.
Follow Eric's advice and to identify your Mac Pro.
