Q: How to setup Canon Selphy CP900 printer over WiFi in Mavericks?

Alas I am not savvy enough to edit your drop box file using File Package Editor and will have to wait until someone puts the edited installable file on drop box that I can just download and install. I know I should be ashamed but Canon is the one that should be ashamed

My Dropbox file is already the modified version.

My apologies, it did not work for me I got a "printer opened failed - 9781" error

hmm... did you try the other link too?

Did you connect the printer via USB?

Did not connect printer to USB, not sure if have a wire to do that

Download the Gutenprint 5.2.10 is released! version.

Then follow the following instructions:

1. Certain models of dyesub printers need a special manual configuration in order to select a custom "backend" driver in Gutenprint 5.2.10 and above. The specific models include:We do not presently have an automatic way of forcing Gutenprint to use the correct backend. If you are using one of these printers and use the standard backend, it will add successfully, but will fail to print. You will need to add a new printer and explicitly specify the backend by doing the following:
   • Canon (SELPHY ES, CP series)
   • Kodak (Professional 1400, 805/6800/6850/605 Photo Printer)
   • Shinko/Sinfonia (CHC-S2145)
   • Sony (UP-DR150, UP-DR200)
   • DNP (DS40, DS80, DS-RX1)
   • Citizen (CX, CX-W, CY)
   • Mitsubishi (CP-D70DW, CP-D707DW, CP-K60DW-S)
1. If necessary, install the installer package for Gutenprint 5.2.10 or above.
2. Make sure your dyesub printer is connected via USB, turned on, and ready to print.
3. Under the Apple menu, go to System Preferences, then click the Printers & Scanners icon (for OS X 10.5, the Print & Fax icon).
4. Examine the printer list (on the left-hand side of the dialog) to see if your dyesub printer has already been added. If so, remove the print queue by clicking the - (minus) button below the list.
5. Click the + (plus) button below the list.
6. In the new window that appears, look for your dyesub printer in the list of found printers. It will likely show two listings -- one with a Kind of "gutenprint52+usb", and one with a Kind of "USB". (You may need to wait a few seconds for all the listings to appear; on OS 10.5, it may take several minutes, and your system may appear to be frozen.)
7. Select the printer with the Kind showing "gutenprint52+usb".
8. Verify that the Use pop-up menu at the bottom of the windows shows the name of the printer, followed by a string similar to "CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.10".
9. Click the Add button.
10. Close the System Preferences dialog.
11. My ES 1Printer now works from my MAC Book Pro 17 ins running os X 10.9.5. Great for postcards etc...

OK, connected Mac to Selphy printer with USB cable and it printed easily from IPhoto

Wireless printing gives printer open failed error

Well, at least I can print now, albeit using a stone age technology cable - but it could be worse I could be using windows

I don't have a CP900 otherwise I would help you troubleshooting.

Hey dear your suggestions are very precious and for the maverick system I achieved to print but following the same directions for Yosemite and paying attention to the additional space removing it finally I achieved to install the file you have inserted here to download but always the same problem. I have the pinter open error arghhhhhhh I have solved the java error and this one can't allow me to print  arghhhhhh I am crazy!

Could you help me please?

I have tried also with the other file for yosemite that someone else has inserted in this thread but nothing I have to try with the usb cable?

I can print from IPhone using Canon App and from Mac using USB Cable but no wireless

Like I said, I accept my fate as it could be worse I could wake up and have a Windows 98 computer

This is a great solution.  Also works for OS X Yosemite but rather than fiddle with versions I'm simply edited the function to return true.  Installed fine for me after that.

I cannot get the FPE download to work bc I am X10.10

Does this work now on the OS X Yosemite 10.10???

I am having problems and when I first goggled people said they uninstalled an reinstalled and BAM I couldn't reinstall anything. I downloaded the driver that is on the Canon site but I can't even find that. I tried to use the actual Selphy Photo Print to print photos and the error I am getting is -9781 or that the print stopped. I tried using a usb cable to print that doesn't work .

I suck at this technology stuff and don't quite follow what all this stuff is in this post. There are so many pages and pages of it I am lost.

Can you help me?
