Q: Not allowed to post a question

Hi, After I downloaded the Safari 7.1 update, I cannot post a new question here in Apple Discussions on Safari or Firefox. I'm on Opera now and hoping to get this posted. Even if it works, I have had to try many times, because I was repeatedly given the error message: "You are not allowed to create or update this content".

On Firefox, when I tried to type the words of the question, they remained invisible, and I got a white circle with a slash through it when I tried to go ahead and post.

Every time I've tried to post on Safari, I get the message: "Your content could not be saved due to an error. You might have been logged out. If this problem persists, please contact your system administrator." I have been logged in each time. I have no idea what this error message means. Who is my system administrator? I cannot go to Apple Support directly because I have an iMac Early 2009 and my Apple Care coverage expired long ago. I checked the subject line for length, but it was on the shorter side.

Can you help?

Are you trying to log in with a different ID than the one you used to join these forums originally? Happened to me the other day, I tried logging in with my latest Apple ID.

Often times that message means you've been timed out. Refresh the page then see if you're still logged in. If you are still logged in try an alternative approach. Tap new new at the top of this page then discussion to ask a question. The Forum format is so full of glitches don't be surprized when you get a strange message. Just try a differant approach like you did by using a different browser.

Thank you for your help. I was indeed still logged in. I did try "New" and "Discussion" to ask a question. It still fought me very hard on every browser. Is there a way to fix this mess so I can go back to posting normally?

You need to log in with the same email ID that you used when you joined the Forums. Using another will let you read posts but not post questions or replies.

I hate to say it seems to be the nature of the beast. On my iPad using Safari I never have any problem posting questions.

I did change my Apple ID password at one time. But everything else is the same, at least I think it is. Is there a way to check and compare which email/ID I started with? Where would I look for that?

You're welcome. I checked your content, back in September you posted a question. Were you able to post normally then ? If yes what did you change between then and now ?

Went digging and found that I started using my email address as my ID recently along with the password change. Something happened awhile back where Apple required these changes. The thing is, I was still able to post questions after that.

It was only after I updated to Yosemite and Safari 7.1 that I became unable to post anymore.

Yes, the issue started with Yosemite and Safari 7.1, though I haven't a clue what to do about it. Here's hoping the answer will come somehow, from somewhere, and soon. Thanks again.
