Q: Upgrade to Yosemite — Quick Report.
Took the plunge and upgraded my personal/professional computer (15" rMBP) to Yosemite today. Quick report:
No hiccups at all.
The new system font _alone_ is worth the upgrade if you use Retina screens. I am pleased with the "look".
Upgrading 100K Image Library took < 2 minutes. No performance problems observed.
Upgrading 1M Image Library took <5 minutes. Also no performance problems.
So ... no problems?
Not exactly.
JPG Image files look different.
- JPGs look a little "sharper" and more than a little increased in saturation and contrast. I'm seeing almost-blown sections in photos that I don't remember being that way. (I don't know how to test this — anyone? My top hypothesis is that I am seeing a difference where there is none. I spent part of the afternoon intently comparing monitors.)
- Converted-from-RAW Images (all my cameras are Sony) look the same. (I always use a custom RAW Fine Tuning setting.) Have not imported/converted any new RAW files.
NB: I have not recalibrated my monitors since the upgrade.
Also, fwiw: I repair all Libraries regularly, and always before upgrading to a new version of Aperture.
Hope that helps someone.

I have not seen this increase in sharpness and saturation for JPGs, Kirby. But none of my macs has a Retina display. Perhaps it is a better handling of Retina displays in Yosemite.
A great bonus picture!
