Q: Bootcamp win8.1 autorepair fail after yosemite upgrade

Hello Loner T,

I try to post directly here, as my problem is quite similar to another you answered before Loner T.

I have read most of your posts on reporting diskutil and testdisk

I have testdisk and gdisk ready to use

But, yes theres is a "but" :-), i got a different display that seems more complex to me... i got 5 partitions and the one that seem to be the right partition is the 5th and the 4th dont remind me anything.

Here are my outputs :

pc12:local Denis$ diskutil list

Oops i forgot some details

At boot bootcamp never disappeared

Windows 8.1 bootmgr is launching but i think it's not on the right disk (disk 4 contain a strange temp folder and a recovery file) > seen on finder

disk4 has the ntfs header but it's not the right disk

disk5 dont have the same header

As i remember there are only 4 partitions on my computer...

And it's not possible to mount disk5

I have run testdisk, could you help me on the output pls ?

That upgrade is going me crazy... :-D

Looking at the GPT you posted and Testdisk is pointing in the middle of GPT#4 as start, which is good. I suggest deleting GPT#4 and #5 and create a new GPT#4 using the information in http://www.imagebam.com/image/29d622361111962

    Hello Loner T,

    Thanks again for your feedback.

As my GPT is like this :

    pc12:local Denis$ gdisk /dev/disk0

    GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.8.10

Problem opening /dev/disk0 for reading! Error is 13.

You must run this program as root or use sudo!

    pc12:local Denis$ sudo gdisk /dev/disk0

    partition table automatically reloaded!

    Should i erase only GPT4 ?

You told me 4 and 5 but maybe i misunderstood something...

On the first page of this thread, the old GPT#4 and #5 were deleted. You just need to make sure the current GPT#4 starts at the correct start/end as indicated by Testdisk, so you only need to delete GPT#4.

    - bootrec.exe /scanos

    - bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

    - bootrec.exe /fixboot (i was not sure if it was useful in my case)

    Reboot again and ....
