Oct 30, 2014 5:54 PM in response to Eaglesianby dejen1,★HelpfulGood question. I signed up for an @icloud.com email and they don't go there. They don't go to my Apple ID email. I haven't tried the icloud yet because I haven't figured out how to use it. I tried to set all notifications to come in like an amber alert, which would work perfectly, and that didn't do it.
If you are not holding your phone and tap the notification in a few seconds you miss it and have no idea it was requested. Family Sharing forces you to manage the account from your mobile device and then finds a way for you to not be able to find these requests. This is a huge Family Sharing FAIL.
So the family member has to call me and tell me the ask to buy is on the way?
They built a ton of useless crap into ios8 and left out the one thing I need. The one thing that would be useful to me besides it being a telephone.

Nov 1, 2014 12:42 AM in response to Eaglesianby indaba007,I don't see the notification at all on the 'parent' device. I will probably delete the child accounts and go back to the old fashioned way of restricting the main account on the child devices unless there is some sort of comprehensive support answer / trouble-shooting list soon. All I get is the marketing hype on this site and no real solutions.

Nov 11, 2014 3:51 PM in response to Eaglesianby janericster,★HelpfulHaving a similar issue.
My daughter buys an app, gets the prompt to ask permission (which she does) and then nothing happens.
I am the "organizer" so there is no option on my iPhone to be a parent although I read the "organizer" is automatically defined as a parent so theoretically I should receive a notification to approve the purchase. I never get anything.
Someone said to turn on Notifications for "Family" but I don't see any Family listed under the Notifications setup screen.
Not sure why Apple makes this so difficult on top of being so buggy.
Anyone else have this issue with a workaround?

Nov 12, 2014 9:06 AM in response to janericsterby TheParentFeed,★HelpfulDitto here. "Ask To Buy" notification only appears for a short amount of time...if your iPhone is locked, you can't access the request at all. This is a big issue considering the touted - ease-of-use - of this new Family Sharing feature.
Thought it might be listed in the notification center, but not there either. Doesn't do much good seeing as though your children have to wait 24 hours to resubmit their request. There has to be some solution for this:)

Nov 18, 2014 1:30 AM in response to TheParentFeedby Stuarthw,★HelpfulDitto Here...
So miffed with another Apple "fail"
I'm overseas , and frankly its heart breaking for my youngsters 2000 miles away to take the trouble to enter their ( unnecessarily complex) iCloud passwords... send the request then ... PUFF ! the requests appear momentarily then disappear , or don't appear at all on my mac / IOS devices.
How frustrating . It looks to my children, as if I haven't bothered "approving.
What an ill-thought out implementation.

Dec 7, 2014 12:22 AM in response to Stuarthwby Maarten van der Smagt,★HelpfulActually, I got one step further. If you missed the message, it appears in Notification Center when you swipe down. My problem is that when I tap the request my phone is unresponsive for a while, but the approval screen does not appear.
A new request does not work after that. I'd appreciate any solution...
ps the same for my Mac. A banner appears, I click 'details', an nothing happens. This must be a bug, that should be removed asap

Dec 25, 2014 8:38 AM in response to dejen1by uncjens ,★HelpfulIf you are set up as the organizer and missed the request from your family member, try swiping down on the screen. It will show you "today's events", but if you touch the notification button on the right, it will show you missed notifications. My daughter sent a request and I just figured this out an hour after the request and it was still there. I clicked it and it brought up the screen for me to approve (Or not). I hope this helps.
MJ.

Dec 25, 2014 12:06 PM in response to Eaglesianby lisafromwilliston,★HelpfulI am having this issue. My daughter and I both got new iPad's for Christmas. However I don't have any missed notifications anywhere and as far as I can tell notifications are on. I'm simply not receiving the ask to buy at all. I've checked every apple product we have in the house, it isn't going to any of them.

Dec 25, 2014 2:41 PM in response to lisafromwillistonby stanharvell,★HelpfulI was having the same issue And I figured out the problem. My son and I got iPads for Christmas and I set his up. I set him up with e family share deal and all was good but I did not get any notifications when asked. The problem was that I had already used my log in for iTunes/app store on his iPad since that is the way I used to do it. Once I logged out and logged him back in with his newly created iCloud child login it worked perfectly.

Dec 29, 2014 9:26 AM in response to stanharvellby klyoungie,Thanks for the solution......I had exactly the same problem, but once i had logged out my ID from iTunes on my daughters Ipad and added her new iCloud username into iTunes, problem solved and the notifications ping to my straight to my phone.

Sep 17, 2015 11:40 AM in response to klyoungieby marysplacestudio,My daughter keeps resending the notifications to me, but they now do nothing when I click them. Apple has nicely shot themselves in the foot because I can't purchase this song.

Oct 22, 2015 7:03 PM in response to Eaglesianby achisholm,It turns out that on the child device you have to log out of the parent account on BOTH iCloud AND iTunes separately and then log both of them back in using the new child account. After that it magically starts working.

Oct 26, 2015 11:19 AM in response to Eaglesianby Domdom911,issue: the message for granting the authorization desappeared when unlocking my iPad. Not possible to find it on my iPad.
What worked for me:
1. Go to: Settings --> Notifications --> Messages
2. The "Alert style when unlock" was on "none". Select "Banner" or "Alerts"
3. Ask my daughter to try again to get the app
4. Grant the authorization (Apple Store login required)
5. Ask my daughter to try again to get the app: this time the system downloaded the app
