Nov 1, 2014 4:31 AM in response to robAsandersonby rsav78,This is a very infuriating issue, where i live i barely get 2 g let alone 3 or 4g.
I don't have the toggle option i am running an iphone 6 plus sim free (have tried multiple carrier sims and none give me 2g coverage)
This is definitely an issue for apple to get a fix out for asap

Nov 6, 2014 11:37 AM in response to thebremnerby dankton12,Has anyone got any updates on a fix for this problem?
In the family we have 4 x 5s on Vodafone UK and live in an area where the nearest 3G signal of any use is some 20 miles away. so now we have 4 phones that are practically unusable for voice calls. When we do pick up a 3G signal the calls sound as though they are being made from underwater and drop out in under a minute.
Vodafone say it is down to Apple and apple say it is down to the carrier to resolve.

2G, 3G, 4G LTE have nothing to do with voice calls.
They are for data.

Nov 8, 2014 11:19 PM in response to Chris CAby Michael Dufranne1,Chris, yes they do have an impact on voice call. Check out on the web to find out more.
I am still very frustrated that the option to choose your network is not available on all phones. It makes so much sense !

Sorry but you are mistaken. In case of 2G Narrow Band Wireless Digital Network is used. It brings more clarity to the conversation .Both the 1G and 2G deals with voice calls and has to utilise the maximum bandwidth.
Where the option to use 2G in a weak signal area is removed the quality of voice calls suffers a lot of degrading. -

Nov 10, 2014 4:48 AM in response to Michael Dufranne1by NickMac7,You have to modify the stock carrier settings on your iPhone, it isn't a separate carrier bundle that would have to download and install

What i will add is i recently used my Iphone 6 plus in turkey on a turkish sim and the toggle option was available. In the UK on Vodafone and o2 this toggle wasnt so it must be carrier related not down to apple as i previously thought
