Q: Unable to boot after RAM upgrade

I am running a 2.4 GHz mid 2007 20" iMac. Recently I bought 2 x 2gb memory modules from Crucial in order to upgrade my RAM from the 1 x 1gb preinstalled.

The package for the new ram states that it is DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) CL5 SODIMM 200-PIN

The previous ram says that it is "1gb 2Rx8 PC2-5300S-55-12"

It says here that my model can function with up to two 2gb modules and they should be PC2-5300, non-parity, 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, and unbuffered.

With both 2gb modules installed or just one in either slot, my machine turns on, but stays on a black screen. It does not make any chimes.

My machine boots normally with both 1gb modules and with one of the 1gb modules and one 2gb module.

The ram is fully pushed in.

What is going on with trying to use both 2gb modules at once? Why is my computer not booting? I have read up that this problem might occur if the ram is the wrong MHz, but the specification for my model requires 667 MHz which is also the specification of the new ram.

Thank you.
