My Iphone 6 is recognized by iTunes when I plug it in. But it does not show up when I open "Computer" where my hardrives are and normally my protable devices (when plugged in).

Nov 3, 2014 12:44 PM in response to AKA.AKby ChrisJ4203,★HelpfulIt seems as though you might, but the only time that it appears in Computer is if there are photos in the Camera Roll. Otherwise, it will not appear. You do not have access to the file system, so there is no reason for it to be in Computer. If you do have photos in the camera roll, then you may need to go back to that support document that I linked, and take a look at information about the Apple Mobile Device Driver, and USB driver.

Nov 3, 2014 12:53 PM in response to AKA.AKby ChrisJ4203,Worse case scenario is to remove iTunes and reinstall it. If you have to do that to recover drivers for Windows, then make sure you do it exactly as this support document outlines. Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
If you vary from this method, you can create more problems. Good luck.

Dec 24, 2014 3:28 AM in response to AKA.AKby johnnyb10021,★HelpfulI had the same problem on my Iphone 5. It drove me crazy. I tried reinstalling ITunes and my apple mobile device driver, but nothing solved the problem. I was able to detect my iphone in windows if I went to control panel, then programs and features, found apple mobile device, right click, then click repair. This would allow windows explorer to detect my iphone, but I had to do this every time and it also drove me crazy, After trying everything I could think of, I decided to try and uninstall a program called expresso media. I am not sure where it even came from, but walla, once I uninstalled it my iphone shows up in explorer and iTunes just like it should. Simple but frustrating. Good luck,
johnnyb

Jan 14, 2015 1:44 PM in response to AKA.AKby Ralph9430,Your iPad should be recognized as a camera if you start your image capture or camera application on the computer. Your iPad will also appear in iTunes on your computer. Your iPad will not appear like a connected hard drive.

Jan 20, 2015 11:18 AM in response to AKA.AKby sbgleason,★HelpfulI had this problem too, and finally found a fix.
I tried all the fixes and driver updates (to no avail) but what worked for me was to go to Control Panel>Devices and Printers. The Apple iPhone was there but appeared under "Unspecified." I right-clicked and selected Troubleshoot. Apparently "the device was not enabled" so I selected the "enable device" fix. The phone/pics appeared as a folder in Windows immediately. I have no idea why the phone gets "disabled" every now and then but this works every time.
I have a PC, fwiw. Good luck.
