Q: Calendar

Can I enter dates retrospectively? have just started using icloud and am filling in the calendar for the remainder of the year. I need to fill in some dates earlier in the year and when I enter data say for 3rd Jan it appears for a couple of seconds and then vanishes before my eyes! Please tell me that I can enter old info. I want all my dates in one place........help?!

You should be able to enter earlier dates.  If you are doing this on an iOS device, check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Sync (in the Calendars section) and set this to All Events.  If you are entering it on icloud.com, open your calendar, click the gear shaped icon on the upper right and choose Preferences, go to Advances and under Old Events make sure Hide Events isn't checked to hide events older than a certain date.

if past events have disappeared, go to settings>sync then choose a time period 2 weeks, 6 months, all events, etc. Old events should re-appear. I figured this out after bashing my head against the wall after going to icloud.com and seeing my old events on THAT calendar but not on my iPhone. I couldn't even add in an important date/event 6 weeks ago on my phone's calendar - it seemed to just disappear into space. This was really making me gnash my teeth together and curse apple yet again. somewhere in the icloud preferences it should  have had this setting, not somewhere to be stumbled upon.

I have this same problem, but the fixes below do not seem to be working on my ipad mini.  When I try to add a past event, change something about a past event, or move a past event, it appears for a few seconds and then disappears.  In the settings on my ipad, my "sync" is set for "all events".  This is very annoying since I use the calendar times/dates for past events for billing and there are often changes that I need to make for the actual time I spent at different appointments.  On top of that, events only disappear sometimes, often, but not every time.  Which makes it really weird and I don't always catch it unless I'm looking back through and something is missing.  I never use icloud, and I logged onto it the other day and none of my events were there at all past, present, or future.  I'm not sure what's going on there.  I am also linked to an outlook calendar if that makes a difference.
