Q: Working Wacom Drivers for Yosemite?

I had this same problem when I upgraded to Mavericks and now it happens again with Yosemite. My old Wacom tablets no longer work. With Mavericks, only one of the legacy drivers would work. Some version in the middle (not the latest). With Yosemite, I can't get anything to work. Either it won't load the preference pane after install or it doesn't see anything connected.

I have two Wacom Tablets:

  • Intuos 2 XD-0608-U
  • Intuos GD-0608-U

Has anyone had any luck with getting an old Wacom to work? As before, Wacom doesn't seem interested in updating their drivers for legacy users. It's a shame because the equipment itself still works great. Any 3rd party alternative drivers out there?

I can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe if we put our brains together on this thread, we can find a solution.

I too had the same problem with my old trusty Intuos GD-0608-U once I upgraded to Yosemite.  After some trial and error including completely uninstalling, I found that as suggested, the 6.2.0-w4 driver in the Intuos2(XD) Legacy Driver section enabled my tablet to work.  No preference pane, but as HWilliam says, I can live with that.

Just received an Intuos Pen & Touch and bumped into your question while freaking out about the same problem. Found this driver, it should work perfectly. I suppose there are a bunch of different versions for the 6.3 and which apparently does not all work.

    Please find and install 6.3.8-2 (10.7x - 10.9x) from Wacom's website.

    Good luck!

I should append: my Wacom is Intros CTH-480.

I have a Cintiq 12x and none of the above worked for me. The legacy drivers all seem to be removed from the Wacom site, but I was able to get the 6.2. Again, none worked. Wondering if I'm alone on the Cintiq...

I own an old intuos 1 for more than 8 years.

when i upgraded from mavericks to yosemite, it was not working anymore.

i removed all the files like Dan in NC suggested in the previous page of this thread, then i installed the old 6.2 drivers and it's working again !

    hope this will help.

    cheers.

Can you access the tablet's Preferences panel in the System Preferences? My tablet is working but I can't customize any of the settings.

Unfortunately no. But since my tablet is old and doesn't have any specific features, i didn't need any specific settings.

I forgot to mention that the 6.2 are the only drivers that work for my wacom with yosemite. I tried almost every later releases with no luck.

I hope you will find a way.

    Good luck.

Just went to the Wacom site and downloaded the "MacOSX - Driver 6.3.9w5 (10.7x - 10.10x)" on Yosemite.

These worked for my Intros 4.  On the Intuos, I pressed the settings button (I was on my desktop screen), then mouse selected the oval settings button, and all the options to modify the settings popped up.

I use an old Bamboo fun.  Same problem as you all but I fixed it:

    • Uninstall the no-longer-working wacom app in your system preferences
    • Go to http://us.wacom.com/en/support/drivers/
    • Locate: Latest Drivers for Bamboo Tablets
    • Install: MacOSX - Driver 5.3.5-4 (10.7x - 10.10x)

You'll have a new Wacom app in your system preferences that works just like the old one did.

I also have a first-gen Intuos, and the latest drivers didn't work for me, either. You can get old installers from Wacom's "legacy installers" page. I'm using 6.1.5-2.

I backed up my preferences with the "Wacom Tablet Utility.app" before re-installing, then restored afterward. Control panel doesn't work, but the tablet does.  Good enough for now, but I am a little worried about the future...

This comes from a workaround posted by Janis on Nov 7 on Wacom site for Yosemite and Intuos 2.

Sorry that it is so long......

I have an Intuos2 and it does not work with Yosemite. Janis posted that the old preference files( if you still have them) still work in Yosemite and control the Stylus as you had it: you just have to install them using the Wacom Tablet Utility. ( Uninstall the new preferences then install the old preferences). I did not have the Old preferences and they had been overwritten by Wacom Drivers for Yosemite.

Luckily I have a Powerbook still running Maveriks and Wacom Driver 6.2.0-W4 so created a backup preference file using Wacom Tablet Utility, then installed that backup preference file using Wacom Tablet Utility on my main (30inch Nec) computer(withYosemite). Unfortunately the coordinates for a 15inch Macbook Pro did not translate too well to a large screen, but they did work.

I then tried to Install Mavericks on an external Hard drive from my Yosemite computer with no luck. So I attached my external Hard drive to my Powerbook ( Maveriks) and installed Maveriks on that Hard Drive. I then restarted my Main Computer using the external hard drive, installed Wacom Drivers 6.2.0-W4 , mapped my Stylus as I have always used it with my large screen, then using Wacom Tablet Utility created a Backup Preference File and put it on the desktop for the Main Yosemite Drive. I then restarted in Yosemite, using the Wacom Tablet Utility removed the preference files installed with the driver that did not work, then restored the Preference files I had made with Maveriks and BINGO I have my Intuos2 working as before!
