Q: My 2010 Mac Pro has never properly ejected discs from CD/DVD drive.

I have a 2010 Mac Pro that has never had a working optical drive. The drives work fine, but they cannot be ejected using the keyboard (they "click" like they try to open, but they never do).

I can open them using a paper clip (after removing the optical bay chassis from the inside of the Mac Pro), and if I place a disc in that way they work fine; I can burn and read discs without issue.

I replaced the stock drive several years ago in hopes that the issue would be addressed. It was not. I also added a second Blu-Ray burner thinking that one might work. It also has the same problem.

I'm LONG out of Applecare. I almost never burn/read discs anymore, but I would love to get this working if it's not very difficult.

Any ideas? Thanks!
