Q: Where is APPLE?

When is Apple going to address the issues of freezing, buggy and just about uselessness of their latest upgrade for Ipad 2 users? I had to try three times just to post this complaint!

iPad 2, iOS 8.1

This is a user to user forum for technical questions. You can contact

Apple directly using the link from the bottom righthand corner of every

page in this forum:     Contact Us

If you care to provide specific details as to the problems you are experiencing

including any error message received and any trouble shooting you have done,

someone will offer a solution. Personally, I am experiencing no problems with iOS 8

on 2 different iPad 2s; as always YMMV.

I run iOS 8.1 on an iPad 2 without problem.

I suggest you reset the device by holding the power and home keys down until the Apple logo appears. If your iPad is using most of the memory, it might help to delete some things...

Apple is NOT HERE on this forum. You are talking to other users like yourself, here. If you would like to talk to Apple, they have set up official channels for you to do so ...

    HHi,

we the users should not have to do any resetting because a software update has problems. I just received a response that was helpful, the is an update 8.1.1 that is supposed to have a fix for older iPads and iPhones.

I didn't mean it as you took it. I know this is a users forum.

Been there, done that and more...still has issues. There is an update 8.1.1 that is supposed to be out in a week to fix problems with older iPads and iPhones.

That procedure of using the Home and Power button is one of the mechanisms that Apple has programmed into the device in order to force a reboot when either the iPad or some app has frozen up. This is simply part of the normal kinds of things that will always go on with any computer or computer mobile device. You will have to force a reboot at various times, and at other times you'll need to do a normal reboot, which is dome with the power button alone, and then a slider bar shows up to shut it down.

The first procedure is for when it locks up and the second procedure is for when it doesn't but needs to be rebooted anyway. Even if nothing is going on, I'll reboot every couple of days. It will reload the system again, in case there is any scrambled data. And when you do that, you should quit all your apps, too, to make sure they start fresh the next time around. What you're dealing with here is a "computer in your hands" ... so this is the kind of stuff you do.

This particular thing has nothing to do with a software update.

When you do an update, and especially if you notice sone problems now, you should always do a "clean install" which will load a fresh system on your device, instead of using your existing software on your device. And you can see the reason why ... because IF you're having problems with the present software that is on your system right at the moment, why would you want to continue with that troublesome software and load Apple's "changes" on top of your "trouble". That doesn't make any sense. SO ... you do a procedure that loads a completely fresh system on your device, which is what resetting to factory default is.

Make sure you do your backup, and understand what is saved and what is not saved. Then make sure your anti-virus software is turned off on your computer, so that the iTunes program doesn't run into any problems. The links below are about the backups and then the last one is to get a clean system install.
