Q: can't open mail after installing yosemite

Hi,

I just istalled the yosemite on my mac, and now I can't open the mail.

Have tried sever times. Everythings seems good in the beginning and downloads all the messages. But then  I get a message that the Upgrade failed and that the index is damadged. It says I can repare it by opening mail again, but the same thing keeps happening.

Regards,

Helga Marie

I managed to open it now!

Now I am just trying to restore the mailboxes again, but when I try to import them I get the message: "no valid mbox files were found"

You want to move just the folder with a name ending in "mbox" to the Desktop. When importing, select Apple Mail as the format.

Hi, I put out the mailbox.mbox and put it in the desktop.

Then I open my email and it worked and apparently all my emails are there. Now just what do I do with the mailbox.mbox on my desktop?

    Shall I delete it?

Seems fixed in 10.10.1. Update and give it another try.

I had the same problem trying to locate the proper Library folder. It turns out it is hidden in Yosemite. I used this article to locate it and I had success restoring my mail account back to normal.

Here's what I saw on the Console:

9/30/15 6:47:33.232 PM Mail[13545]: MailAccounts were initialized before migration from V1 to V2!

9/30/15 6:47:33.245 PM Mail[13545]: MailAccounts were initialized before the Library was ready!

That and a bunch of Gestalt messages.

Hello, i have the same problem, my Mail library upgrade froze after installing the new el capitan. I am on a mac book pro retina and all my mails are POP. Any idea how to solve this, as some of the mails i am using are for work. Preference options in the main menu are greyed out too.

    Thank you in advance,
