Nov 6, 2014 5:43 AM in response to ricoNOSbergby Douglasau,Can anyone tell me why I cannot enter Page Numbers from Word since I installed Yosimite? It merely shows up as {PAGE} in the footer with no number. I downloaded all the updates today and hope this will fix the crashing issue but the page issue is unchanged?/

Nov 7, 2014 4:49 AM in response to Alex_2008by dserneels,I've tried to install the service pack (also the first) but it says that he can't find a version of the software to install the update although I do have it.
Any suggestions?
I can still use word documents I've made before installing Yosemite but I can't open any documents that I've just downloaded :-(.

Nov 7, 2014 6:43 AM in response to M9100009by helenlotus,Hi everyone,
I had the same experience and was able to resolve this problem by simply re-installing Microsoft Office.
More specifically, I was experiencing multiple crashes in Word after installation of Yosemite, and the issues worsened after I installed the latest update of Office (14.4.5). I decided to remove the 14.4.5 update but the only way to do this was to uninstall and re-install Office. So this is what I did, and Word has not crashed since then. Fyi, my current Office version is for Mac 2011 (version 14.4.0).
I hope this will help solve your issues!

Nov 12, 2014 7:28 AM in response to M9100009by celestialtour,Uninstalled and reinstalled latest update of Microsoft Office 2011 - now have 14.4.6 - and STILL am having freezing problems with Word. If I try to save an open doc, or choose to Don't Save, the red close button fades as does all other commands. The only way around this is to Force Quit, restart Word and the unsaved docs reappear. Can't work this way. Am near tears with frustration. Does anyone have a solution beyond downloading the latest Office update???

Nov 12, 2014 7:36 AM in response to celestialtourby normafromrichmond,Same here. The update to 14.4.6 worked for a few days. Then this morning, it is back. EXCEPT now my Word 11 for Mac has lost its recover feature, and all my work is totally gone. I've also had serious difficulties with Excel after the update.

Nov 12, 2014 7:39 AM in response to celestialtourby Douglasau,I have heard so many bad comments and read of so many failed solutions I think the only answer is to demand Apple find a way to return us all to the old system. Instead of writing each other every day we should pour on the complaints to Apple Corporate. Reverting is not easy I am told. My photographer (a pro) happened to have 2 hard discs and when he finally gave up trying to solve the myriad problems he swapped the Yosmite infected hard drive for an older one and all was well - Apple told me at one of their stores that I could not revert back to the old system and if anyone knows a way pleas say so and let us abandon this fruitless discussion and this horrible "improved" system

Nov 12, 2014 8:10 AM in response to Douglasauby Nic125,I had freezes while using the track changes and comments features of MS Word, and I could'nt waste one more day. So I choose to downgrade to Mavericks (I'm a Mac user since 1988, ant it was the first time I did such a downgrade!) Surely it's not easy, but there are a few good tutorials around. I used this one and it worked fine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxHKUGue60g ("OS X Yosemite 10.10 to OS X Mavericks 10.9 Tutorial DOWNGRADE").
