Q: iTunes Match won't stop loading on Apple T.V.

Four related  questions:

1) iTunes Match won't stop loading on Apple T.V. meaning I can't access my music library. This has been going on for two plus weeks. Based on other posts there are many people having this problem. Is there a fix?

2) Shouldn't Apple provide a refund for a service I can't use?

3) Why do some 40 - 50% of Apple upgrades result in problems? ( It has gotten to the point where you fear upgrading)

4) Why doesn't Apple provide a better product experience? These problems would be completely unacceptable in virtually any other commercial realm.)

    Hi ckeith990,

I am not sure if you found a solution to your 1) problem, but I ran into this over the holidays and this was my solution.

    1) iTunes Match won't stop loading on Apple T.V. meaning I can't access my music library. This has been going on for two plus weeks. Based on other posts there are many people having this problem. Is there a fix?

    Solution
    On iTunes

    1. Open iTunes on your laptop/computer

    2. Turn off iTunes Match

    3. Sign ID out of iTunes ID: Menu>Store> Sign Out

    4. Don't close iTunes (we'll go back to it later)

    On your Apple TV
    1. Sign out of your WiFi network: Settings>General>Network>Wi-Fi>select your network>click Forget Network

    2. Restart: Settings>General>Restart (not reset)

    3. Once restarted, Sign out of iTunes Store: Settings>iTunes Store>AppleIDs>Sign Out

    4. Restart

Note: If you can sign out of your Wifi and then your iTunes ID at the same time - go ahead. For some reason I couldn't because iTunes Match was trying to load.

    5. Your Apple TV should only have two icons now. Settings and Computers

    On iTunes
    1. Sign in with your ID.

    2. Turn on iTunes Match

    3. Allow computer.

    4. iTunes Match will connect to the Cloud and update your music.

    5. Do not close iTunes

    On your Apple TV

    1. Sign into your WiFi network first

    2. Sign into your Apple ID

    3. Turn on iTunes Match: Settings: iTunes Store>iTunes Match On

    4. Go to the Music Icon on the Apple TV Screen - it will load.

After it loads you can close your iTunes on your computer. Now I am not exactly sure if it matters to have your iTunes open on your computer, but the first time I didn't and I was stuck loading for days. The second time I left it open, iTunes Match loaded on my Apple TV in a minute.

Your basically signing out of everything resetting and signing back in.

    Hope it helps.

I had the same problem and had to use this method signing in and out of everything multiple times.  It would continue to get stalled over and over and I had to repeat the process a few times, but eventually it completed.  Pretty annoying and a poor experience, but I'm finally glad to have my library synced across all my devices, so it was worth it.

Thank you so much for this!!  This issue has been driving me crazy!  I followed your instructions but I did not restart my Apple TV again after signing out of iTunes store.  Still worked.  Thank you!!!

That fixed it for me also (been trying to get it stuck since about October or August of last year)

It seems iTunes Match got stuck (I could not even sign out of iTunes Store because it was stuck trying to sign into iTunes Match (even through the last few TV updates)), the suggestion worked fine

I Found a much simpler way of sorting this without having to work with ANY computer, laptop or Mac.

ALL that I did, in the end, was to reset the ATV and it immediately picked up my iTunes Match as soon as I then logged onto iTunes Store and switched on iTunes Match . No need to go through the plethora of devices, just a simple reset then start it as if from new. Less than 5 minutes & it was all working.

    I Hope this helps

Just to add that a reset is not complicated. It takes less than 5 minutes in total.

I Believe this to be a conflict with iCloud, on the ATV. I have not logged back into iCloud on it, just incase that was what was causing the problem. I note that no one else seem to say they have iCloud option on their ATV ?

You are very welcome. It was a case of reading the advice given and reading between the lines. I have had good results when resetting my ATV before and so I thought it would be the best place to start.

I Know it's a running joke to hear " have you turned it off and on again " but, after software updates, I have found a reset work well and is very easy to do.

I am so pleased it worked for you. Have a great weekend.

    Peace

It's awesome to finally listen to all my tunes on my Apple TV.  If anyone else is continuing to have this issue please take JoolsPirog advise and  do an Apple TV RESET, you will save yourselves lots of grief and aggravation.

I am unable to log out of iTunes. I am also unable to turn off Match. I am able to log out of iCloud. Unfortunately, a reset didn't resolve the problem.

pleare log out of iCloud. I found that this seemed to be the conflict, for me, in anycase.

Go back to settings and log out of the iCloud and then do the reset. When you reset you should be taken through the options of setting up your wifi network and turning on ITunes match.

it is not necessary to be logged into iCloud to use iTunes Match. I believe this is the conflict but I don't work for Apple so could be wrong.

Can you try this and then post back here to tell me if this worked please. I also was unable to log out of iTunes or my Apple ID. It was when I logged out of iCloud and then did the reset, that it worked.  Please do not log back into iCloud when you go through the reset. I hope you don't feel me patronising when I ask if you did a reset or restart ?

Reset will take less than 5 minutes to go through set up and will mean choosing your country, inputting your wifi password and then logging into iTunes with you iTunes ID etc. I apologise if you have done this.

Please  try this one more time. The reset will automatically log you out of your iTunes ID and match. Once you have reset, log into the iTunes Store and then turn on iTunes Match. Do NOT log into iCloud.

    KInd regards

    jools
