Q: Has anyone else started hearing ads on iTunes Radio with iTunes Match enabled?

I have checked my account and I have iTunes Match enabled but since upgrading to Mac OS 10.10 I am getting ads every 5 songs.

I am only getting ads from iTunes about "New Albums"... never seen a McD's ad yet. I have had ads pop up anywhere from every 3rd song to every 7th. Always an iTunes ad though.

I have seen the McD ad, the album in the top shows the yellow 'M' in a light blue-ish background.

An Apple Senior Support Adviser now has access to my account and will be working with engineers to resolve this issue. I will continue to post updates as I get them.

I have been in an ongoing conversation with an Apple Support Senior Advisor - Still Broke but here is what I have tried so far:

Note: I have changed my iTunes password so Apple Support has access to my account to test on another machine.

    1. Turned iTunes Match Off and On
    2. Deauthorized All Computers associated with my account - Store > View Account - Computer Authorizations (Deauthorize All)
    3. Added 1 iMac back to my account
    4. Logged back into iTunes with the new password and enabled iTunes Match
    5. Updated iTunes Match - Store > Update iTunes Match
    6. Updated Genius - Store > Update Genius
    7. I have removed the SC Info folder iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    8. Limit Ad Tracking is enabled - iTunes > Preferences > Store Preferences
    9. Reset iTunes Store Cache and Reset all dialog warnings - iTunes > Preferences > Advanced

Today for the first time I got the "Welcome to iTunes - Take the tour" after Reseting the iTunes Store Cache... but still getting ads.

Apple Support states they are unable to replicate the issue on their test computer with my account. I have been able to replicate this issue on multiple iMacs using the same account. Apple Support stated the only error that came up on their test was the 90 day iTunes Account notification were you can only log in to a single machine with 1 account in a 90 day period. I have never logged in with any other account on either of the 2 machines I currently have enabled... Still getting ads.

I am a very technical person, I have been trouble shooting for many years - I can only imaging how frustrating this issue is if you are not tech savvy. At the time of this post I have only heard 2 ads in the last 1 hour. Both for iTunes Albums. It is very random sometimes every 3rd song other times it  goes 45 minutes between ads.

Just an update on non iTunes 12... My MacBook Air is running the same account on iTunes 11.4 on OS 10.9.5 without issue. I have reauthorized it to see if it was possible an account issue or if it is specific to the iTunes version. Preliminary findings.... iTunes 12.0.1.26 is the culprit on both Mac and PC. My account has basically been reset so I am pretty sure it is ok.

are to stick our heads in the sand? seems like many of us including myself have emailed, called, and posted about this know bug. Apple is turning a deaf ear. Be advised, it is not actually Apple employees working in their support center but a 3rd party company called Minacs. Appears Minacs does not have equipment to test this as seen in previous posts. This is a major black eye for Apple.   my sense is they've given up development on iRadio in favor of rolling out Beats: http://tcrn.ch/1tsRBVi

I am having the same issue. I would say I get ads about every 5 songs on average, and it has been ongoing since upgrading to iTunes 12.

I am also having the issue of ads playing on a Windows PC after the iTunes 12 upgrade, despite my having an iTunes Match account. Just nosing around through some various forums, I found a couple of suggestions of things to try, but nothing has worked. I've had the issue since I upgraded but the ads seem to have gotten a lot more frequent today.

Also having this issue, with version 12.0.1. I've used Match since it was first available and this is the first time I've encountered the issue. I've also followed all the support suggestions that have been mentioned online and none of them fix it.

I've preferred iTunes radio to other options because of the simplicity with grabbing songs I like, having them instantly available on my phone, etc. - but the  main reason I've subscribed is the ad free radio. I can go back to Pandora or other options any time and I do have a Prime account already. Given the number of threads creeping up as more people upgrade to version 12, it's apparent this isn't an overly unique or limited issue.

I'll give it maybe another week before disabling the renew feature and moving on to another service for radio. Too many other things to waste free time on, and having to sit here and troubleshoot what is supposed to be the "intuitive" or "hassle-free" experience, isn't worth it - especially when I'm paying. Also not pleased that my only options on the support front were schedule a call or place a call. Not sure why email/submitting a ticket electronically wasn't an option.

Please know I have been in contact with an AppleCare Senior Advisor who is working with engineers to resolve this issue since 10-24-14. We have tried several different methods from resetting my account to Resetting iTunes etc. I have supplied access to my iTunes account, screen captures, attempt reports and have had several phone conversations... I believe the issue is deeper than an account owners machine preferences but that's just my humble opinion...

OK... Another failed attempt at resetting iTunes Account and cache... didn't work for me but here are the steps just in case it can help someone else.

    1. Open iTunes and log out of your account
    2. Open iTunes Preferences > Advanced > and click “Reset Cache” to Reset iTunes Store Cache
    3. Quit iTunes
    4. Reopen iTunes and log into your account
    5. Make sure iTunes Match is on (Store > Turn On iTunes Match)
    6. Go to Purchased (either at the bottom of the Store Home page or from your “Account” menu)
    7. Download one of your previously purchased songs (this assures your computer is associated with your AppleID)

As of this post I am still getting ads. After each fix attempt I am running iTunes Radio for a 4 hour session and counting the ads and taking screen captures.... I am less than an hour in after todays attempt and have had 4 ads.... 5.....  It is a good thing this is not affecting my iOS devises - I drive a lot and would loose my mind if ads started playing in traffic.

We are indeed paying for a service we are not receiving at this point but I am a staunch Apple supporter and will do my best to assist in resolving any issue I run into. We are a community of users and as such we always have other/better options but if we just jump ship it will never get better for the rest of the users out there.

Please continue to post on this thread if you are having this issue. The more the "engineers" understand how widespread this issue is the more of a fire it will light to get it fixed.

cant believe one of the most respected brands in the world still has the ballz to put this on their website:

iTunes Radio music is ad‑free with iTunes Match.

Subscribe to iTunes Match on your Mac, PC, or iOS device, and you can listen to music on iTunes Radio without ads

When I inquired about a refund I was told "all sales are final"

You are slipping Mr Tim Cook

I too have been getting occasional adds for albums while listening to iTunes radio. Glad it is not just me. I'm on a Macbook - OSX 10.9.5 and iTunes 12.0.1.26.

I did not have this issue prior to iTunes update.
