Q: Google Chrome won't open (bounces forever on dock) ever since update to Yosemite

Ever since I have updated my iMac to Yosemite, I cannot open Google Chrome. When I click the icon on my dock, it will bounce up and down forever and then I will have to force quit the application to stop it.

I have tried re-installing the app and turning off the firewall but that still won't fix the problem, however if I try and open Google Chrome on another user on my iMac, it will work perfectly.

Does anyone know why Google Chrome is doing this ever since I updated my iMac to Yosemite?

Works fine on my Mac. Did you try to repair disk permissions in disk utility?

Also try a SMC and Pram reset which probably will not do anything but worth a try.

Yeah I've just done that and re-installed Chrome but the problem is still there.

Open Applications -> Utilities -> Console and check for more information.

My Chrome works fine (version 38.0.2125.122)

I opened the Console and tried to start Chrome, I had to force quit again and this popped up on the Console:

18:53:46 com.apple.pc.launchd:
(com.google.Chrome.101988[811]) Service exited due to signal: Terminated: 15

Was that what I was supposed to do or am I supposed to do something else in the Console?

This doesn't say much. launchd caught the "Force Quit" signal you sent.

Nothing else? How long did you wait before "Force Quit"?

I can force quit as soon as I attempt to open Chrome, as soon as it starts bouncing up and down.

This doesn't tell me much. It tells me that launchd caught the "Force Quit" you sent.

Console doesn't say any more?
How long did you wait before "Force Quit"

In Finder, Ctrl click on /Applications/Google Chrome
and click on "Show Package Contents"
double-click on Versions folder and tell us what version of Chrome are you running.

Ok sorry if I wasn't being clear enough, there is a folder inside "Versions" and it says "38.0.2125.122".

Are there parental controls enabled for the user?

Chrome breaks the Yosemite Network Stack on a Parental Controls enabled account
