Nov 6, 2014 7:11 AM in response to Cattleya17by Drew609,I Would highly encourage everyone with this issue to send apple feedback and mark the feedback type as a bug here http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html I just got my replacement iPad Air 2 and I'm still getting the speaker pop. This is extremely frustrating. At this point we don't know if it's a hardware or software bug so at least if we can get they're attention here, they can look into it.

Nov 6, 2014 8:35 AM in response to Cattleya17by jrolson,Im also getting the speaker "pop"...
I think it's a problem with the new speakers they are using in the Air 2... Will probably have to wait for an Air 3 for a new hardware fix.
Also there seems to be software problems also... For example, in the "Family Guy" app, the in-game music won't play until a notification pops up, like the low battery warning. Which is really strange...
Im really losing confidence in Apple after this...

Nov 6, 2014 10:25 AM in response to jrolsonby Danggas,My 15 day return runs out on Saturday, for you guys that are running out of time what do you plan on doing? Hold out and hope it's software and can be patched or return and get money back. I've already had two that do it so I do not see the point on exchanging another one.I also installed the ios 8.1.1 beta and poping still happens.

Nov 6, 2014 1:49 PM in response to Bruce PopPopby Bruce PopPop,I've be using my exchanged iPad Air 2 for almost a week now. It does the same as the original one did. Every once in a while I hear a pop that sounds like a small static discharge just like the first one did. I've decide to keep it even though it has the problem. I hope it's software, but something makes me think it has to do with the hardware. It only does it maybe once every few days. I thought I saw another post that some wrote they had a similar problem with a first generation iPad Air.
I also posted to the place where you report bugs to Apple about this problem.

i just submitted feedback...thanks for the suggestion and link. I'm having the same popping issue on my air 2...tho i've had only 4 pops in two weeks. 2 of which were clearly NOT from the speakers. today one was in the upper left side and even felt a slight vibration. another was when it was off/sleep mode just sitting on my sofa. nothing consistent... earlier today i put in for an exchange but now after finding this forum/thread i'm fearful of getting one that's a worse offender or other issues. this one is great in all other aspects...

Nov 8, 2014 5:41 AM in response to Cattleya17by juahan, exchanged mine and so far the new one has not popped. 2-3 days now without popping, the first one did it many times a day. Hopefully this unit really is now problem free.

Nov 14, 2014 6:41 AM in response to Danggasby NOYB234,PLS do not wait replace it. It is another way Apple gets the message that there is a problem with there product.

Nov 14, 2014 7:33 AM in response to NOYB234by Mais78,what's the point of exchanging so many ipad in such a short time frame? It will take Apple a few week to fix and test the solution. They produce millions of ipads, they cannot just apply a fix and see if it works, they have to be 99.999% sure. Exchanging now is a waste of time.

Nov 14, 2014 8:37 AM in response to Mais78by NOYB234,I, like Apple, would like to be 99.99% sure before asking for a refund and then waiting for the fix.

Nov 19, 2014 6:16 AM in response to Cattleya17by Bruce PopPop,
Has anyone updated to the IOS 8.1.1 and noticed if the popping noise has went away ? I updated the other day and haven't noticed it since the update, but I would only notice the noise in the previous IOS maybe once every few days. -
Nov 19, 2014 6:20 AM in response to Bruce PopPopby Mais78,I did, 8.1.1 does not solve it. I was hoping it would fix it, it didn't so i returned mine.

Nov 19, 2014 1:25 PM in response to Mais78by NOYB234,I returned three and they all popped... I finally returned mine for a refund instead of an exchange. I love the Speed: 2GB of RAM, 64 Bit of architecture, the A8X processor, and A8X mobile processor, but I believe there are issues with the conductivity within the device.
I also noticed, after reading Tech guides, that there are two versions of the iPad Air 2. One UI iPad5,3 & the other is UI iPad5,4. the Benchmark on the iPad5,4 is a bit higher than the iPad5,3. Everyone I know has an iPad5,3... The Tech reviewers all received an iPad5,4 to review.
This is not a software issue either. Any motherboard that makes a popping noise is not good, especially if it is located right where the Processor and RAM are.
I have heard folks trying to talk their self out of returning their device by saying it may be "settling" computers especially SSD driven computers do not have any moving parts that would "settle". They are soldered to a mother board along with the processors, RAM, Qualcom chip, etc... In other words there is nothing to "settle" or nowhere to "settle" to. I would strongly suggest returning yours if it is making any kind of popping noise. As terrible as it may be it is the only real way to resolve the issue. Contact Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html and share your experience. Read the hundreds of Apple lovers expressing all of their efforts and remember that Apple's Flag Ship will soon have a fix...
