Q: Boot camp doesn't work after Yosemite update..

Hi Loner T,

Like many people with the yosemite update, my boot camp no longer works.

I cannot find the drive when I'm booting up.

Startup Disk under system preferences only shows the Mac system and does not show any other option.

I've been trying to go through what you've posted to help other people but I've never even worked with terminal application before and everything is very confusing.

First of all here are the

"diskutil list

diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

sudo fdisk /dev/disk0"

commands:

Can you post the output of sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk04 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C, which will show the NTFS header?

Do you have any third-party NTFS drivers installed, like Tuxera, Paragon or NTFS-3g?

Triple click the following line and paste it into Terminal. It will prompt you for your password.

    sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk04 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C

Really bad on my part to ask you to try twice but giving you the incorrect command both times. Sorry.

    sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s4 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C

Let us try this again. I omitted the count so you are dumping the entire disk. .Use Control+C to stop it.

This is what it should look like.

    sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s4 count=1 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C

You seem to have a valid NTFS filesystem on that partition.

Does your Bootcamp Volume show up in Finder? Can you see files in the Bootcamp Volume?
