Q: Partition BootCap on DD 3To Fusion Drive: A methode

In continuation of another post above a bootcamp disk problem, i ask to now how to crate a Bootcamp partition on a 3To. Fusion drive using command on terminal like:

diskutil list

diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk1

sudo fdisk  /dev/disk0

sudo fdisk /dev/disk1

The end of the first thread:

Can't format former Boot Camp partition

Thanks.

Looks like the numbers being used are being rounded and cause some issues.

    Using size in bytes 2198162292736 (2.2TB) - 262144000 (250Gb) = 2197900148736

The same thing probably happened to BCA as well. Try exact bytes rather than GB, or leave a gap.

The following syntax specifies a shrink from 2200g to 1800g and create a BOOTCAMP of 250g in freed-up space.

    diskutil cs resizeStack 7D2AB070-B558-4788-BD0F-ECD835245C2C 3DDE5754-7274-4D58-AED2-EF28CC6A28AF 1800g fat32 BOOTCAMP 250g

If there is an error, it will rollback.

Because of lack of documentation, reduce the current 2200g to 1800g and ask diskutil to create 250g fat32 Bootcamp in the freed-up space. The problem with this method is that it may create the BC partition at the end of 1800g, not at the beginning of disk1s2, which is my preference.

A new logical volume can be created in the Free Space as the following GPT command output should show. The current LVG is 1.8TB (the remaining 1.2TB is Free Space on the physical disk).

The next step is to create the Hybrid MBR using disk1 such that the following can be included for the Windows installer to use.

4:       Microsoft Basic Data BOOTCAMP                250.0 GB   disk1s4

Can you post the output of sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk1? You may also want to download GPT Fdisk (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/)

Before you can install Windows, a new MBR needs to be created. Can you post the output of sudo fdisk /dev/disk1 to check if there is an MBR that exists? If there is no MBR, you will need one. To create one, you will need to download and install GPT Fdisk (Gdisk) from  http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/.
