Nov 13, 2014 2:37 AM in response to Robert36340by weedyapl,Hi all just wanted to list my solution for others i had printing problems with yosemite even after upgrading my canon laser printers drivers to v10.10.
Only way i could get my printer to work again was:
Remove printer from System Preferences->Printers and scanners
Remove old drivers cd /Library/Printers, you can just type sudo rm -r [directory_name], where [directory_name] is one of EPSON, Canon, or hp (do NOT type the square brackets).
Reinstalled the exact same printer drivers that didn't work before and it worked a treat
All the other fixes in this thread i found didn't help. E.g. rebooting.
Hope this fixes it up for you guys i don't do much printing so only found out tonight it was stuffed.

Nov 13, 2014 3:21 AM in response to weedyaplby General Mischief,Thnx, but that didn't do anything to my issue.
I've been trying to get in contact with Lexmark US to get this sorted once for all, but now 2 days later I have not heard anything. I'll keep you posted.

Nov 14, 2014 3:34 AM in response to Robert36340by General Mischief,I came up with a solution of my own regardign the printing issue:
- I went to library -> printers and erased the Lexmark folder.
- I then downloaded a driver for the successor of the X560n, the X544 and installed it.
- I then went to system settings -> printer -> add new printer
- Chose IP
- Typed adress for printer
- Chose LPD
- Added.
- Voila. It worked!
I don't know if this will work for other printer brands, but I hope it can help someone!

As far as Lexmark goes... well, they are just not good at customer service. Swedish office and the US office has not even replied.
I will certainly not buy any more products from them. Even though the products are good, it's just not worth the hassle when a problem appears (and oooohhh, yes I've hade previous experiences with them with the same result = a lot of time spent, no solution and I had to come up with a solution of my own).

Nov 14, 2014 3:33 AM in response to Robert36340by Drummer3708,I very much hope you now have your printer working in Yosemite by now having just seen your post. You don't say what printer you have but I have an Epson and tried all the offered solutions to no avail. But I was lucky as within 24 hours Apple offered me a fix and two minutes after accepting it the problem was solved. I too tried everything and saw so much on line it made me dizzy. But failing this fix I was about to ring Epson who I've found most helpful. My annoying problem is Alerts in mail acting like Banners i.e. they stay on the screen for a few seconds then disappear instead of waiting to be dismissed. It seems no matter how many times I set the Alert it reverts to a Banner. Is your system doing what it should? Mine certainly did it in Maverick.

Nov 16, 2014 4:31 AM in response to SteveHaleby bmcgr1,We use a canon MG6150 & MG 4250 after down loading Yosemite 10.10 both printers stopped working. spoke to Apple technical support and after discussion he suggested rebooting my wireless hub. I was able to find and add both printers and they worked for about a few hours and then stopped printing. To fix this issue I have to switch off and on my wireless hub to print.

Nov 17, 2014 10:51 AM in response to Robert36340by mfromprince,Hi
My new mac refuses to print through HP Laserjet 6P. True its old but prints like a dream on PC. (My Wireless HP B110A prints ok on mac with correct drivers).
After several attempts at re installing drivers, tried to get more from Hp but they say only available from Apple - for Yosemite.
Final got it working with basic PCL driver which is good for black only, but any colour prints lighter, but at least I have laser for letters now.
Looking at all the posts there is a driver issue going on.
Hope this might help someone.
Check first for available updates in App store - updates, just in case driver has update.
Go to;
System preferences
Printer and scanner
+ (click add sign)
Click on your printer (under "name" in list as it should be displayed if connected and on).
Go to "use" at bottom of page
Click on your printer which should now be displayed and choose Generic printer if shown, or select software to get a full list of available drivers
Then add and try and print.
Hope this might help somebody until something is done by Apple.

Nov 17, 2014 11:16 AM in response to Robert36340by Cee13,Everybody seems to be having problems with Yosemite and their printers. Why doesn't Apple weigh in with some help? I've never seen anything like this. I have a Brother all in one printer - MFC - J6510DW - and downloaded the drivers for the printer and the drivers for the scanner. I can finally PRINT! But I cannot SCAN! I am grateful that I can at least print, but I am furious that I cannot scan! I am afraid to buy another printer because nothing seems to be working with this Yosemite!!! It's past time for Apple to come to our aid! LET'S HEAR FROM APPLE RE ALL OF THESE PRINTER PROBLEMS!!!!

Nov 17, 2014 11:34 AM in response to Cee13by John Blanchard1,This is a users' forum, Apple is not to going to answer here. You can send feedback:
https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Most of the issues here are problems with the driver, that the manufacturers have not released updated drivers to handle the increased security on Yosemite.
Did you add your printer using the AirPrint driver? Or the Brother driver? If AirPrint, try adding it again using the Brother driver and then see if scanning works.
