Nov 17, 2014 11:40 AM in response to momolorientby NickRodriguezJr,Hi momolorient,
How are you today? If Safari keeps freezing and acting slow on your computer, what you've gotta do is restart your computer or force quit than restart, to see if it goes much faster...
Thank you!

Hello,
i have same problems with ios 8.1 with my Ipad3. when the Google search shows me the results, the blue links does not respond when I tap. Safari was as if frozen. I have to drag the page up or down so that the link becomes active again. Further the application is very slow. Today I tried iPad Air it was same thing !!!!
the problem persists since updating iOS8.0.0. I am very disappointed with Apple.
excuse me for my english, I am french.
Today updated my iPad Air 2 and my wife's iPhone 6 to IOS 8.1.1 and still they both have this annoying curse!!! Shame how android and windows phone have become more stable than apple's IOS

Nov 17, 2014 1:28 PM in response to Kliffyby Jeff 12,I Would suggest you 2 things that seams to have solved it for me after updating to 8.1.1 :
1) Settings -> Safari -> Clear History and Website Data
2) Turn off the device (hold the power button and slide to turn off) and turn it back on
I don't have seen this problem after that (fingers crossed!!)

Nov 17, 2014 1:34 PM in response to Kliffyby Robert Martin 1,Interesting. I updated my iPad Mini (1st gen) and the links are now immediately available to click on. I haven't found that my iPhone 6 had the problem. Seems as if copy and paste has been remedied as well. Speed is about the same as it's been since I deleted the Facebook app and got all my speed back. So far, so good.

Nov 17, 2014 3:01 PM in response to Robert Martin 1by ocoro02,First impressions favourable with 8.1.1 on my iPad Air 1. Links are responsive on first click without having to scroll the page up or down a little. Feels a bit faster too. I did a simple update through Settings, not a full backup/restroe thru iTunes. I haven't cleared history data or anything else either.

Nov 17, 2014 3:24 PM in response to ocoro02by lesliefromstockton-on-tees,Installed 8.1.1 as a complete clean setup, no backup or restore so totally out of the box. I haven't installed anything at all that Apple doesn't install as default and I have to say that it is much better.
Speed tests are good over wifi, cut and paste is fixed, no lookups as yet, keyboard is responsive, just need to check some websites that were causing a problem. Router is an Apple Extreme latest firmware.
Only other actions were:
Turned off keyboard clicks
Cleared History and Website Data in Safari
Turn off and back on again
I was having all the usual problems.
It's just a shame it happened in the first place and that it took so long to fix it. Acknowledgement would have been appreciated.

Nov 17, 2014 3:22 PM in response to momolorientby Robert Martin 1,The early results suggest we have a winner. Apple doesn't acknowledge problems, but is pretty good about fixing them once they have a handle on what the problems are. So, in this case, 60 days from date of release to date of fix. For some, 60 long days... but better than them simply saying they no longer support old hardware. That'll be iOS9, so act accordingly!

Nov 18, 2014 1:02 AM in response to Geoff37by noremacniai,Agreed Geoff37.
I've done a complete factory restore through iTunes and have yet to install a single app on it.
With heavy heart I'm afraid I can only report that Safari is just as slow to load pages as before, and way slower than my wife's identical iPad under 7.1.2 that's loaded with all kinds of crap!!
How utterly disappointing!

Nov 18, 2014 1:16 AM in response to Geoff37by noremacniai,I should add that I'm not about to field questions as to what iteration of iPad I own, for the simple reason that -
ANY upgrade should bring only enhancements to your hardware and leave it's core functionality untouched!
Safari is one, if not THE MOST IMPORTANT core function on these devices - the clue is in the "i" for iPad.

Nov 18, 2014 2:01 AM in response to Geoff37by noremacniai,As noted by previous member postings -
As an exercise, disabling JavaScript in Settings>Safari>JavaScript resurrects Safari's pre iOS 8.x speed, but page layouts are cranky, for obvious reasons!.
Now, pre iOS 8.x all third party browsers were so much slower than Safari because Apple wouldn't allow them access to their "Nitro" JavaScript engine. That all changed in June of this year with Apple announcing they would allow others to use Nitro in iOS 8.x
I know what my conclusion is of that!
