Q: sleep wake problem with Yosemite on my Mac Mini Mid 2012

I have a problem with Sleep Wake on a Mac Mid 2012 Mac Mini running 10.10, I was also a beta test user, and had seen the same problem before the official release. After the Mac Mini goes to sleep, and you try to wake it, it sits frozen, you can not enter your password, after about 5 minutes, the Mac reboots, and you can enter your password, the keyboard works again. I am using the Apple bluetooth MC184LL/A wireless keyboard. This same problem is occurring with the Logitech K760 bluetooth solar keyboard. I am now going to try only a standard USB keyboard, to see if the problem is somehow related to bluetooth? I been sending the reports to Apple about this problem since I started the beta testing from the start of the Yosemite beta test. It seems this is low on the list or is somehow related to my machine only? I have never had any problems with my Mac Mini, and have never done anything to the device (I never opened the Mac).

Any one else with the same problem? Thanks!

That's very exciting, but I can't find a link for the manual download for 10.10.1 anywhere and the App Store isn't showing it yet...at least not for me (northwest USA). Can anyone else help with a link to the manual download update installer?

    Great find JanuszL.

I knew the .1 beta fixed the mini login.  Just didn't think .1 official would be released this soon yet. Just checked and sure enough, there it is in the update window.  I'm doing another time machine backup and will happily proceed.

They nailed several issues with that made it a pretty bad upgrade for some folks affected by multiple issues like wifi, login, time machine, ...

For completeness from the KB Janus linked:

    About the update

The OS X Yosemite v10.10.1 Update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac. This update:

    • Improves Wi-Fi reliability
    • Improves reliability when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server
    • Resolves an issue that may prevent Mail from sending messages through certain email service providers
    • Addresses an issue prevents connecting to remote computers using Back to My Mac
    • Resolves an issue where sharing services, Notification Center widgets and Actions may not be available
    • Addresses an issue that could cause Notification Center settings to not be retained after a restart
    • Addresses an issue that might prevent the Mac App Store from displaying certain updates
    • Addresses an issue that could prevent some Mac mini computers from waking from sleep
    • Resolves an issue that might prevent Time Machine from displaying older backups
    • Addresses an issue that might prevent entering text in Japanese

Hopefully they'll fix the dual screen issues in .2. That's the next big one on my list.

Almost 5PM EST haven't found it separate yet either, but it did show up with a refresh of the App Store app on my system a couple hours ago. After a long time machine back up I'm downloading the 311MB 10.10.1 update as I type this.

    HEy Bozz....

if you speak with Apple tell them about the international keyboard that is still there.

when you boot up you might (on eput of twowo) loose international keyboard settings and find yourself with an AMERICAN US keyboard even if your default is anotherone. Problem is known on this forum but it serms not to Apple

Updated to 10.10.1 just fine, took a few minutes to progress, but hopefully no login issues after deep sleep (just as with 10.10.1 beta).

I loaded 10.10.1 on 11/17/14, 3.5mm Audio speaker connected again, USB speaker disconnected. The freeze problem seems to be gone.

Thank you everyone who has worked to report this to Apple! Thank you Apple developers for fixing the problem! Item #8 on the list in the 10.10.1 "About this update".

Morning after the official 10.10.1 release.

Happy to report no issue logging in after wake from deep sleep.

A few other bugs fixed too, so it is a better day to be using apple stuff.

Thanks to all who helped report this to Apple through the feedback in beta and after release.

    Onto the next bugs!

I have been monitoring this thread and was happy to learn that Apple finally released the fix. However, after applying 10.10.1 last night around 8PM, my Mac Mini slept to death yet again after midnight. Checking the error log, it seems that some wireless device/IPv6 are throwing exceptions. I have another old MacBook Pro with 10.10.1 as comparison and it doesn't suffer from this sleep/wake issue. Maybe just a PICNIK; I'll dig more later this evening.

Apparently the 10.10.1 update did not fix my late 2012 Mac Mini problem. I updated yesterday, and again this morning I had to tap the power button lightly to wake it up from deep sleep. I didn't have this problem with Mavericks. I don't have anything connected to it other than the display and keyboard.

I have this problem too. I've found some kind of solution. I went to System Preferences > Bluetooth > Advanced and unchecked the Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer box. If the Mac Mini goes to sleep, I'm able to bring it back by pressing the power button on the back. If I leave this box checked, I'm not able to bring it back by pressing this button. Seems to be a Bluetooth issue in my case. I have a wireless Apple keyboard and mouse connected to my Mac Mini.
