Q: Working Wacom Drivers for Yosemite?

I had this same problem when I upgraded to Mavericks and now it happens again with Yosemite. My old Wacom tablets no longer work. With Mavericks, only one of the legacy drivers would work. Some version in the middle (not the latest). With Yosemite, I can't get anything to work. Either it won't load the preference pane after install or it doesn't see anything connected.

I have two Wacom Tablets:

  • Intuos 2 XD-0608-U
  • Intuos GD-0608-U

Has anyone had any luck with getting an old Wacom to work? As before, Wacom doesn't seem interested in updating their drivers for legacy users. It's a shame because the equipment itself still works great. Any 3rd party alternative drivers out there?

I can't be the only one with this problem. Maybe if we put our brains together on this thread, we can find a solution.

So I've noticed with my original Intuos that now it often fails to register picking my pen up. I make a stroke, and clicks don't work until I tap the stylus on some blank part.

    Anyone else seeing this?

I have tried latest version 6.3.10 with Yosemite and Intuos 3 A6 without success but just tried previous version v6.3.9w5 which works fine.

I Have an Intuis3 and had the same problem after upgrading to Yosemite. Called Wacom twice and did the uninstall in all ways followed by a restart. After the third time, I got the tablet to work, but then my Illustrator program went wonky. I've uninstalled the tablet again and am feeling it's absence. Would rather not have to buy a new tablet with no guarantee that it would even work with my system as it is. Haven't found any info on the Adobe site.

I have an Intuos 2 XD-0608-U. My son had been using it in Mountain Lion. I hadn't used it in a while and realized I didn't even have the drivers installed since updating to Yosemite.

I installed the newer Intuos driver and it said I didn't have a tablet attached, so I then installed the "legacy" 6.2.0w4 driver. As others have said, the preference pane won't open, but the tablet worked fine in Photoshop CC 2014 last night.

I might be missing features, but it did everything I needed for photo editing.

Sidney, we're aware of the drivers page. The problem is that it is not compatible for all tablets. In particular it sounds like it's not compatible with the Intuos GD (which I have) and the Intuos2 (which some other people have).

    I tried to install both most current MacOSX - Driver 6.3.10w2 (10.8x - 10.10x) and legacy Driver 6.3.9-w5 for Mac OS X v. 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 & 10.10.
I have Yosemite 10.10.1 with the Intuos Pro.
I get "The Installation Failed" message on both installs.
This is the first time I am trying to install a tablet on my system so didn't need to perform any previous driver uninstalls.

I uninstalled and reinstalled according to the Wacom process description afterwards.

Any insights on this will be appreciated.

My old tablet was ten years old so I used the driver issues as an excuse to upgrade the hardware. The Intuos Pro (5) (medium) PTH-651 and the latest driver are working fine on Yosemite 10.10.1 here. I'll first suggest investigating to see if there are different models of the "Pro" needing specific drivers.

I am using an Intros 1 (GD-0912-U) A3 on an iMac8,1 and have had the same issue with the 6.3.9 and 6.3.10 drivers under Yosemite OS X 10.10.1. Reverting back to 6.2.0w4 gives me no prefpane, but the tablet functions fine. The hardwired buttons all do what they are meant to (in Finder and Photoshop). I'd posted more extensively on this thread: Re: Wacom prefpane incompatible with Yosemite 10.10

I emailed Wacom about it, and they said the driver for the Intuos GD is not updated for Yosemite, that the engineers are aware and are "possibly" working on it, and they have no other information about it.

So basically: It doesn't work, and they have no guarantee that they'll fix it, let alone when.

Hi Lena, just follow the video tutorial

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_j10xhIi5c

, remove Preferences using the Wacom Utility, or just remove the driver and reinstall it.

I have an Intuos too with the same problem but now it works with Yosemite, it´s fixed....good luck !

    Hi.

Running OS X 10.10.1. Previously used an Intuos 4 with no issues. Trying to upgrade for use with the Intuos Pro PTH451. I downloaded the newest driver from Wacom, but haven't been able to get it to work.... I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times while restarting a couple of times as well. I've followed the video, but nothing has changed. Any advice?

    YES!!

I've experienced the same problem: after upgrading to Yosemite my Intuos2 didn't work anymore.

    2 options left:

    - use the newest driver (working control panel) but my Intuos2 wasn't detected

    - use the old driver but get no working control panel (and couldn't control the pen behavior)

    Couldn't live with that.

    So I did the following:

    - installed the old driver 6.2 w4 on my Mac

    - made a backup of the prefs using the supplied tool

    - installed the latest working driver on my BootCamp partition (Win7)

    - configured the pen the way I want it to

    - made a backup of the prefs using the supplied tool

    - copied the config file from Win to Mac

Tried to import this file which didn't work!

Different file structure, different content. NoGo.

    Couldn't live with that.

    So:

    - I opened both file in TextExpander and compared the differences

    - Changed < to < and changed > to >

    - Removed a couple of lines that seemed to cause problems and seemed to be unnecesary

Afterwards imported this newly created file and BOOM, worked like a charm.

Even pressure sensitive tip, eraser top etc.

Have used it a couple of minutes without problems. Will try it this afternoon by using PS.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Peter
