Nov 18, 2014 11:32 AM in response to annabelleby Ravbit,Thank you for your tutorial on page 6, that worked like a charm!
P.S. Strangely, Apple's fails are still following me: when I go to pages 6 and 7 the site thinks I'm not logged in.
P.P.S. Okaaay, now everything is as it should be

Nov 18, 2014 3:48 PM in response to wmaxby leeeeeo,My last post with step by step worked on iPad but not on iPhone 6 (with one member of family)... very strange.
Your post fix it all.
Kill all background tasks, then...

Nov 18, 2014 10:03 PM in response to wrodenby NicaNinja,Try purchasing any app with the new Apple ID first. It can be free like "Find my iPhone." Once you have a purchase established with the new Apple ID, you can use Family Sharing like it's supposed to work. You can update all the apps and download new ones from the Organizer's Purchases.
I just spent hours figuring this out. My son's ID was set to ask for permission. Once I gave it permission to buy (for free) the new app on his device, I was able to update current apps and install new ones from my purchases that I had made with my Apple ID.

Nov 19, 2014 4:00 PM in response to NicaNinjaby AReader8,Apple suggestions weren't helpful, but I just installed 8.1.1 on my iPad and it seems to be working fine now. Maybe something to look into.

Nov 19, 2014 4:31 PM in response to wrodenby charliefromportland,If anyone is still experiencing this problem, I think I may have a possible solution - for some of you at least.
I was experiencing the same problem with Family Sharing and couldn't download any of my boyfriend's apps and he couldn't download any of mine either. But then I realized something - Before "Family Sharing" existed, my boyfriend and I used to log into each other's iTunes/App store account on our phones to download purchases from each other's iCloud. We weren't sure if this was "allowed" with Apple, but we didn't like buying certain apps and music twice. Family Sharing seemed to solve this problem, except that annoying error kept popping up. I thought maybe the apps and music that we downloaded from each other's accounts might be confusing Family Sharing somehow. We then proceeded to delete all apps and music that wasn't from our own account, restarted our phones for good measure, then boom - problem solved. As I read other experiences with this, it sounded like a lot of you have done the "log into another account to download paid-for apps" thing too. This may be your solution then.
TO FIX THIS PROBLEM:
- Delete ALL apps and music that was downloaded from a different iCloud account that isn't the one registered with your device. All apps and music can only belong to one single Apple ID for this to fix the issue.
- All members in your Family Share who are experiencing this problem must do this.
- If you have any secondary devices like an iPad or iPod Touch that you're using with the problematic account, you must do this with them too.
- Restart all devices involved.
Hopefully these steps fix the problem.

Nov 20, 2014 3:02 AM in response to charliefromportlandby Garyrh,Well I finally found the fix for me. I setup family sharing for my wife and I and it never worked from the start. Always got the message the app is no longer shared when launching the apps on my wife's or my phone. I tried every thing logging out of app store and the cloud reboot phones but nothing worked. So here is what I did. I cleared the apps running in the back ground on both phones and removed family sharing. Then rebooted the phones. Then setup family share on my phone as the organizer then went to the wife's phone was able to now install my paid apps on her phones without the dreaded the app is no longer shared. I think the secret here is clearing the all background apps running then reboot the phone go right to settings before launching any apps and setup family sharing. I know rebooting clears the memory but there is some kind of bug that for some reason is causing this. It might well be an app store bug. If you clear the app store that is running in memory yourself before rebooting might do the trick for you. Good Luck and hope it works for others.

Nov 20, 2014 10:47 AM in response to Garyrhby annabelle,It looks like your method , the simplest so far, works! Thanks
I went crazy with my iPad, called Apple support that wasn't of any help
spent so much time and eventually I fixed my iPad. I have an iPhone too,
where I decided not even trying to do all what I did for the iPad, not enough patience and time left .
I swear I did the same thing in the past days (one of my first try) and did not work at all
Today something changed and my iPhone now can share. The first app I tried to download to check it
went to FREE again but suddenly changed to OPEN . There is some hesitance but works!!
Maybe Apple changed something to their app store too, anyway I'm super happy

Nov 20, 2014 12:26 PM in response to annabelleby Garyrh,Glad it worked for you. I still say there is a problem with the app running when setting up family sharing for some people like us. Rebooting your phone should clear the memory but for some reason there is a bug. If you start the app store app and then clear it from memory yourself before rebooting it seems to solve the problem with family share. We will see if this will fix others with this problem then apple might be to find the problem here.

Nov 27, 2014 5:22 PM in response to Garyrhby ruthfromsanta fe,Garyrh- This solution DID work for me. Originally, my phone connected to my husband's account, but the iPad mini failed. He, however, could share my stuff on both his devices. We followed your steps, and initially thought it failed, but when I went back 5 minutes later, the expensive Apps we wanted to share had loaded. We were only having a problem with Apps- music and iBooks always worked. Thanks.

Nov 28, 2014 5:24 PM in response to wrodenby csaldanha,So I just had this issue. iPod touch for my kid, added her to Family Sharing, and anything I downloaded or updated would result in that message. The solution by David Colville1 in this thread was the solution.
This app is no longer shared with you
Simple summary: sign out of the App Store on the device using Settings, and then go to into the App Store app and download some new random free app -- this will prompt you to log in, log in as your kid and after that, the store should work and apps won't give this message.
Logging in while downloading an app seems to update the account info in a different way or something, and this fixed my family sharing issue.

Nov 30, 2014 12:07 PM in response to Fort Funby momwil,My daughter was sharing my Apple ID until we upgraded her phone then we switched her to a new Apple ID and family sharing. She was getting this message with every app that updated. After reading all the fixes on this page I decided to try the easiest first and it worked for us.
1. Go to itunes and apps in settings and log out of her Apple ID
2. Log in as my apple ID (the original purchaser and organizer of family share)
3. Upgrade one app and open it.
4. log out of my Apple ID
5. log in as her Apple ID
after this step the app opened and ran fine. I then downloaded one app under her apple ID and it also worked fine and then, magically all her apps updated and she no longer gets the message. We just finished all of this so I don't know how long term the solution is.
Thank you to all who posted before me with solutions.

Dec 3, 2014 3:55 PM in response to wrodenby wonderflonium,I had this issue as well with my wife. I *think* I might have it.
I went into the App store and set up her stupid security questions, and all of a sudden all the apps worked again. No deleting or reinstalling. Hope that was it and it works for others too.
At the same time, it's also idiotic beyond belief if it was.

Feb 1, 2015 3:47 PM in response to wonderfloniumby christhis,This is what I did to get it to work with family sharing on my wife's iPad as well. I tried everything else in this topic, but ended up logging into her account at appleid.apple.com, answered the security questions, and was forced to change her password to a stronger one. After I did all of this, I logged out and back into her iTunes account on her iPad and everything worked as it should.

Feb 16, 2015 8:48 AM in response to wrodenby Blaine McNutt,My solution was to sign out my son's Apple ID from the iTunes and App Store within Settings. Next I logged in using my ID, went to one failed app, followed the link to download it again, started the download (tapping the cloud icon) in the App Store. Then I returned to he iTunes and App Store within Settings, logged me out, logged him back in. Done. All of his apps are working again.
