If you plug-in your USB when OSX is up, and look under About This Mac -> System Report -> USB, does your USB show under Superspeed bus or High-speed bus?

Okay, after i have all try i know that since Mac osx Yosemite release... everything has changed and i did not have eassy acces to install windows with Bootcamp assistant...

Thank you for your point of USB 3.0 >>> this make some mistake behavior... i use USB 2.0 with bootcamp, i created only install USB disk...

after reboot do not continue the process and i figured out with restart mac and hold option key... then i select the windows installation disc and begining in the installation this way... very weird but ok...

there is next some weird thing... Bootcamp create partition for windows with FAT 32 format and into it can not be windows installed...

Ok this i figured out too and manualy i formated disc partition in windows installation into NTFS...

after all has been installed and i run for rirst time after all reboots... (many many...) i have problem with usb driver which do not makes me use the keyboard nad mouse...

Ok, i find on some forums manual how to fix that...

This do not looks like eassy process... everything is in MAC OSX weird.... time to swap---->windows looks like great way

This step is supposed to be automatic, because the Mac NVRAM is modified by BCA.

there is next some weird thing... Bootcamp create partition for windows with FAT 32 format and into it can not be windows installed...

The Apple NTFS driver is a readonly driver (by default), so it cannot create a native NTFS partition natively. The Windows installer converts the FAT32 partition to NTFS before it starts the installation. This is normal.

after all has been installed and i run for rirst time after all reboots... (many many...) i have problem with usb driver which do not makes me use the keyboard nad mouse...

The Windows installer does not have USB3 drivers. On certain Macs, it presents a problem using the internal keyboard/mouse. A wired USB KM is always helpful.

Most of the issues are related to the environment, or configuration of the underlying hardware/disks.

Good to see it finally work.

    Hi there,

so i've got the same problem and all in this post didn't work for me. I have a 21.5 iMac mid 2010, with a selfmade FusionDrive (2TB Harddrive and 250GB SSD with OSX 10.10.1 running) and an USB HP-BluRay Player. Bootcamp did the partition on the FusionDrive, an original Windows CD was in the USB Drive. After restart i got the error message "NO BOOTABLE DEVICE - INSERT BOOT DISC AND PRESS ANY KEY"

I've searched google but quiet found nothing what could helped me. I tryed to activate the Bootcamp partition and now i got a black window with a blinking cursor...

Hope something of the following could help:

i solve this with this steps... i must first try everithing...

    bootcamp:

ready to boot from usb windows ISO + driver + partitioning

    use a USB 2.0 !!!!!!

after the restart when the installation stops continue, restart + Option key and select flash with windows

NTFS formatted partition -> installing windows

the finished installation, malfunctioning keyboard and mouse? -> F8 safe mode and uninstall programs faulty USB 3.0 driver.

    it works for me...

    applied to Yosemite 10.10.1

    1. If you iMac has an internal Optical drive, you should use it. BC will not set the booting from an external Optical drive.

    2. Are you trying to install Windows or repair it?

    1. I haven't an internal OD, because i removed it for the SSD. The external booting from the USB OD starts, because i see it in the startup manager

    2. I only have an empty bootcamp partition, want to install windows

My iMac couldn't find a bootable partition. That's the reason i set the WIN95 - FAT32 partition active. Now i got an black screen with a blinking cursor. Bevor i set the WIN95 - FAT32 partition active, i got the error message NO BOOTABLE DEVICE - INSERT BOOT DISC AND PRESS ANY KEY

BCA uses the iMac Model Identifier to set the boot device to be the path of the internal optical drive, irrespective of whether it actually exists or not.

With this setting, it expects the Win95-FAT32 partition to have a boot block, but it does not have one. This is also the reason for the blinking cursor, and it will eventually time out or sit there and not do anything.

    So, what should i do?

In other google search results, i tried to manipulate bc that it could make a bootable usb, but the usb drive didn't show in the startup manager and didn't start the installation of windows... nothings changed and i can't install windows on a bc partition!!!

Modifying the BC info.plist will let you create a USB, but the problem is that BCA option of 'Install Windows...' is used, it expects the internal Optical drive to be functional and sets the boot arguments in nvram to point to the Optical drive path. There is no way to change it, since it is used only for the duration of the installation and is removed once the Windows installation is complete.
