Q: Error 1000 after downloading a movie from iTunes movies.

Trying to download (back-up) a movie (Guardians of the Galaxy) from iTunes was (almost) successful in as much as it downloaded the complete file (4.01 Gb) then threw up an error "There was a problem downloading... (1000). Hitting the button at the end of the progress bar three times gave me the same error message... a forth tap caused the movie to download again with the same loops. I had downloaded two movies after the before mentioned movie with no problems. The Guardians of the Galaxy movie appears in my iTunes app. under My Movies (and plays) but does not appear in my AppleTV (unwatched/ by name etc) menus when it uses my mac mini video server (over 700 movies). I have repeated the download options for this movie more than 7 times (using different options) to no avail. Thank you for any help.

    Having the same issue ...

If you right-click the movie in the download dialogue window then click play.

The movie will successfully play; this implies that the movie was successfully downloaded with the appropriate DRM.

The movie is almost exactly 4gb, which is a 32-bit boundary.

iTunes is having problems moving the movie into the Movies directory.

I have movies both larger and smaller than 4gb ...

Guess: This is an iTune bug processing movies around the 32-bit boundary of 4gb?

I am having the same issue here with the same movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. Once I synced my iPad to show I have the movie I was able to download it to the iPad via the cloud, but I couldn't copy the movie to the iPad via sync.

    Hello all,

I am having the exact same issue too! Phew, at least I am not alone! Looks like there is something wrong with the HD file!

    • Seems to download complete on iTS but gets 1000 error
    • Separately seems successful download on iPad mini. Movie plays fine on iPad mini.
    • But iPad wound not transfer the movie to iTunes on mac.
    • On iTunes Mac still see the movie with the Cloud icon. Seems to be able to play.
    • On iOS devices like iPhone etc can't see the movie in the Movie category.

Hope the problem be fix soon! Cheers!

    Same here.

I suspect it's to do possibly with it being linked via Vudu/DMA on my account.

Apple support can't see these in order to push it into download queue as it wasn't a purchase/redemption.

Just so you know, this has been an ongoing problem since the movie became available. Up until yesterday there were many more threads concerning this issue. the folks at Apple are aware of the issues. Some, more knowledgable than I, have speculated that the problem might be more with Marvel's file submission than with iTunes. Others have pointed out a discrepancy between the indicated file size and the actual file size that gets downloaded (one is larger than the other). The response from Apple is to be patient for 24-48 hours while they try to resolve this issue.

Here's what I know:  After trying multiple times > 6 I've had no success getting the file to be accepted by iTunes on my Mac, however, the download was successful on my iPad. Also, mind the "Downloads" folder within the "iTunes Media" folder. With every attempt it stores the 4gb file that was supposed to be your movie there. You might want to clear it out to save space on the hard drive. It does add up quickly if you don't have much space to begin with.

I can't comment on what happened to the multiple other threads I sa w posted yesterday - they seemed to have disappeared - but I think I've given you the gist of them, nonetheless. I know this is frustrating but it won't last.

Thank you for telling me/us that the problem has been corrected. I did as you said and all was well. Apple charged me (which it had not done) and everything is working as it should. Thank you (howwow)... and I also wish to thank the rest of the people that responded to this thread. I recommend to those people, (if you haven't already done so) download again and I believe it will work for you.

    Thank you,

Wasted 30GB of my monthly bandwidth in the process...in addition to being forced to delete family purchased downloads as well.
