Q: iPad touch screen issues

My iPad touch screen is not working properly since upgrading to iOS 8 especially when using Facebook or the copy paste function. Any suggestions?

    Perhaps a little more in the way of an explanation as to exactly what is going on would help, but in the meantime, I would start with closing all apps and reset the iPad. No data will be lost. This is like rebooting your computer and sort of wiping the cached memory - a fresh start approach.

     

    In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.


    Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

     

    If that made no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

    We'll try a simple thing first, quit all the apps (push Home button twice quickly and remove all the apps by swiping up), then reboot by pushing and holding down the Power/Sleep button for about five seconds until the new screen comes up and you get the slider to power off. After that finishes (about 30 seconds or so) then push the Power/Sleep button again and your iPad will start up. After that is finished, then see how your touch screen is. Report back here ... :-) ...

    Okay, we'll get into the big guns here ... :-) ...

     

    Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!

     

    First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.

     

    Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.

     

    On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.

     

    This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.

    i have the same issues. the touch screen doesnt work properly. i cant close the screen etc ant more. i tried resetting too. it was fine with ios7 but 8 messed it all up.

    Nothing has worked. All the apps are jerky when they load, which is hard on the eyes. I am so frustrated. Facebook  is still a pain- the keyboard is glitchy, everything takes forever to load, etc. However, the keyboard is just fine in Google Docs. Apple better come up with a fix soon!

    I would do the Troubleshooting Methodology that I posted before ... AND ... get rid of any Facebook app of any kind. It's been reported that the Facebook apps are causing this kind of trouble (at least a lot are solving it by getting rid of Facebook). Another app that was causing problems too, was the WSJ app.

     

    SO ... it appears that some APP PROGRAMMERS are causing at least some of these problems. So dump your Facebook app (and WSJ app, if you have it) and do the reset to factory default (and do not reload those apps back onto the iPad!).

     

    Try that and report back!

    Yeah... I'm really sure that app programmers are at fault. Their apps worked before IOS 9.0 and don't work anymore after the upgrade. That's just passing the buck. If we give the developers a few weeks, they'll probably find work arounds for apple's new buggy operating system.
