Q: Help with Aperture Book Quality

I created a book in Aperture.  It took me a year to create this book and now that I have a copy I am extremely disappointed in the quality.  I've had the book now for a while and passed it around to several friends to read.  All adults.  All who know how important this baby is to me.  In other words, no unreasonable handling.  Print quality from the start was ok, not great.  The binding has given way (softcover) and the pages are shedding? its print.   This is a book I want to last a lifetime but has the wear and tear marks of a book that is 20 times its age.  I've made other books using other photo book companies that I've had much longer and are in far better condition.  Starting over with another company is not an option as I've invested so much time on this book, and also Aperture has a greater flexibility of picture and word layout than I found with any other photo book company.  As far as the creation of the book on the computer I was quite pleased with Aperture.

So, first I plan on ordering the next one as a hardcover.  Hoping this will help with the binding issue.  Also, I'm hoping this will help with the condition of the first and last pages, as these are in the worst condition of the softcover book and it looks like the hardcover has a protective blank page at the beginning and end.  Beyond that I'm at a loss.  Is there a way to choose a better quality paper?  Any other feedback is most welcome.

Thanks!

If you have another photo book company you prefer, you could try sending them the PDF of your Aperture designed book. To get the PDF, use the Print book command and choose to save a PDF file from the PDF menu in the print dialog.

Have you talked to the Print Products store? The wear and tear you are reporting is not normal.

I printed my first books ten years ago, and they are still o.k. Maybe the colors are a little bit paler than before, but  no shedding of pages.

I'd contact Apple Support. Your invoice should have a link: Report a problem.
