Q: iPhone 5s, IOS8.1, WI-FI signal strong but not receiving data.

My iPhone 5s shows that WIFI signal is strong but is not receiving data from the internet therefore it keep showing the loading circle beside the wifi signal and  also phone shows delay responses. After I restart the WIFI, that will return to normal but after few hours/min problem also arise again. Especially in the clash of clans this problem occurs more often, I even can't search a match by using this iPhone. This problem happen in both of my home's wifi, there are different model router and does't have any interference. My internet speed 70mbps, speedtest result highest only 40mbps and unstable sometimes below 10mbps.

After upgraded to IOS 8.1, the issue still there, I thought that was my iPhone 5s problem, I had spent a lot of times on replacement, after I got the new phone that is IOS 7.1.2, but I thought this problem was my previous phone problem so I upgraded to IOS 8.1 again, after updated this problem appear again!!!!! I am really regret on it!!! However, my iPhone 5  and iPad(3rd generation) on 8.1 doesn't have this problem, maybe only on iPhone 5s. Hope Apple take measure as soon as possible. Wifi problem really a big issue, I used my cellular network one month ago, quota is limited.

I have tried reset network setting, restore, 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ, set wifi to 20MHZ, close background refresh, Location service>System service>wifi networking, manually setting ip address and changed a new iPhone 5s (replacement).

    Hey Xiaomifen,

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone is having trouble getting WiFi data. I see you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections - Apple Support

    1. Tap  and Forget this Network.
    2. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network. Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
    3. Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
    4. Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.

Try internet on another device. If it doesn't work then its your internet service not your iDevice.. You should call your internet company.

I Am having the same issue. showing full signal but can't load anything on the iPhone or iPad. Both running ios8.1. I have a main router in the house that is conected to an older router via Ethernet in the office. I get nothing from the main house wifi coming from the modem router. This is a bright box from EE. But the wifi seems to work off the older router.

i Have tried all suggestions includeibg rebooting the router and restoring iphone. Nothing works. It seems Ios8.1 only works with select base stations. Although I have my iPhone for a couple of years and iPad for three I have a good mind to take it in for a refund. It is no longer fit for purpose Without the wifi! Please Apple sort this out. It is not good enough!

I am amazed to see a response like this as late as November when it is obvious the suggestions don't work. I took my iphone 6 back because the ios 8 or the phone is no good. I tried every wifi reset suggestion there is. None work. Either the new software or hardware is a dud. I only look at these to see when the problem might be fixed.

The same **** happened with my 5S A1457, after I upgraded it from 7.1.2 to 8.

Ping time has increased from 45-50 ms to 1050 ms every 5th packet + time outs!

I compared with 4s on 7.1.2 with the same router, and it still stable and perfect: 1000 packets send, 1000 packets received, with no issue. 45-50 ms Roundtrip time, no losses, as it was with 5S before upgrade..

F..ing iOS8... All that ******** about reseting network settings, etc., doesn't work.

Best solution would be to buy new 5S with 7.1.2 pre-installed, and never, never upgrade.

I got my first iphone...a 5s last week and have wifi problems too. I did all the resets and its not helping at all. It's stinks going back to return as I cannot be sure a replacement will work anyway. Please advise mr apple dude.
