Please let us know the result of the following:
1/ Click on Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the top right corner of the screen)
2/ Enter the word: system. System Information should be a top result. Open this app.
3/ Once there, find camera in the left column. Is there any information about your camera there?
For example: UVC Camera VendorID_1452 ProductID_34050

Nov 30, 2014 8:45 AM in response to EZ Jimby cscox95051,I have done the SMC reset twice now. It hasn't helped. Still the same problem.
Checked the System Report, and under Hardware->Camera it reports "No video capture devices were found." Clearly this is not the case though, since the camera is built in. The camera does not seem to work with any of the other apps I have tried either (FT, PB, Skype...)
Very frustrating and disappointing...

if you have already tried all other relevant suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight, that error report is usually an indication of hardware failure.
(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
There are no user serviceable parts of the camera. Unless you have a current backup, make one now. Then use the final "Troubleshooting" suggestion: "... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."
