Q: iOS Safari full time Desktop and Reader modes

Just throwing this out there in hopes of getting people interested...two things:

1) I would love to see an option to always request the desktop version of a website on my iPad (and iPhone), persistently, so I would never have to see another mobile optimized website again.  They're driving me nuts.  When the iPad first debuted, it was designed for the best mobile browsing experience on desktop websites, and it was, until mobile versions took over the net.  I'd like to bring that back by always requesting the desktop version without first having to load the mobile version.

2) I'd love to have an option to stay in Reader mode until the Reader button is tapped again to turn it off.  Any website that Safari can display in Reader mode should be displayed in Reader mode.  It's the best Adblock ever and makes the experience so much better.

So please, if this sounds good to you, tell Apple about it with a feature enhancement request at  http://www.apple.com/feedback

thanks!

Have you seen the new request desktop feature in Safari ? Go to a website. Tap the URL field. Pull down Favoriites and tap request desktop site.

Hmm, yes Bob, obviously I've seen it. That's what this post is all about - making it persistent without having to request it each time the page loads.

I wouldn't have repeated something obvious, some websites allow you to request desktop site.

From my original post.  So it's obvious I knew you could request the desktop version... if you read it.

    Have the same problem.

I would also like to view in desktop mode all the time for iOS. (iPad, iPhone)

Can it be set only once?

To select the feature "Request Desktop Site" every time visiting a website is annoying and a waste of time. Thank you.

    Peace.

Unfortunately presently it must be set each time you want to use it. You can leave feedback at the link below to request it be changed.

I totally agree. i feel like mobile versions are bring us back to the days of WAP. It makes no sense to not be able to use the desktop version if your device is capable of it and having to specify each time is just plain annoying. Android has this and they work absolutely fine, why can't we?

That's what I'm doing posting to this forum.  If Apple doesn't follow this they do so at their own peril.

"That's what I'm doing posting to this forum."

Then you're wasting your time. The Forum was set up to be user to user with minimal Apple intervention.

Unfortunately Apple has decided to play a larger role in the Forum.  The one thing that hasn't changed if you want to be guaranteed Apple will see your request you have to send in feedback.

You are wasting my time.  I not looking to be trolled by these unhelpful comments.  You are not an expert.  Please let professionals do their job.

Once again you are wrong. I am a expert on how this Forum works and Apples role in it. Posting on this Forum I'm as close to a professional as you'll ever come. I tried to help you. I failed. I won't waste any more of my time.

bobseufert, Diana.McCall & myself ARE INDEED EXPERT in the ways of this forum.

There is no better helper on using an iPad here than bobseufert.

Feedback is Apple's way of receiving "suggestions" - NOT HERE - no matter how much you WANT IT BE SO.

Apple is in no "peril" from not following these forum posts - not even a little "skeered" by your statement.

One way to get ASC "Host" attention is to attack folk. But you will not be getting the positive attention that you want - expect a decidedly negative response.
