Q: Photo sharing stopped - any hints?

Hi everyone

I am using Aperture iCloud Share to send Albums to my iPad and iPhone.

It seems broken now, I created a new album and only around 20 pictures are uploaded to iCloud and thus sync'd to my devices.

I do have enough storage (my iCloud storage has around 170GB available);

My total number of photos is way below limit (around 1400 in total);

I have just a few Photo Streams (10, limit seems to be 100 from what I could find on support.apple.com).

So, I'm not sure what is going on.

Does anyone have any hints?

Thanks

Alex

    An update:

    I do have enough storage (my iCloud storage has around 170GB available although support site says Photo Sharing doesn't count against my storage);

    My total number of photos is way below limit (around 1400 in total, limit is 1000 per album, my largest album has less than 350);

    I have just a few Photo Streams (10, limit is 100).

    Try, if signing out of iCloud Photo Streams in the "System Preferences > iCloud > Photos" will start the syncing again.  That made the Shared Photo Stream work again for me after the Yosemite upgrade.

    • Open  "System Preferences > iCloud > Photos" and disable "Photos"
    • Restart your Mac.
    • Open  "System Preferences > iCloud > Photos" and enable "Photos", including both "Options" for the Photo Streams.
    • Enable the Shared Photo Stream again in Aperture's iCloud Preferences.

    It will take some time for the Shared Photo Streams to populate again.

    If the photo streams do not reappear, try if removing the content of this folder will help: It contains the photos downloaded from the shared streams. Perhaps one photo is corrupted.

    • ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub-shared/
    • Quit Aperture
    • Move the folder above from your User Library to the Trash.
    • Restart your Mac.

    If it still does not work, remove the complete folder "~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/"

    Your user library may still be hidden.

    • To open the hidden User Library:
    • Quit Aperture.
    • Use the Finder's "Go" menu. Click "Go", then hold down the options key, until you are seeing "Library" in the drop down menu appear and click it)

    Hi Léonie,

    I tried turning iCloud off/on and all photo streams disappear and later reappear.

    The problem is that my new photos on my Mac are not being uploaded to iCloud.

    Everything in there gets downloaded correctly, but there're some photos that just will not upload.

    It is really weird...

    But I will try the other steps you sent me anyway, thanks for the tips!

    The problem is that my new photos on my Mac are not being uploaded to iCloud.

    So the problem is automatic upload using "My Photo Stream" and not the "Shared Steams"?

    If you are using iOS 8 on your iPad and iPhone, disable iCloud Photo Library (Beta).  The iCloud Photo Library prevents the Photo Stream from uploading to the mobile devices and also disables iTunes Photo Sync. If you want to use Photo Steam, don't use iCloud Photo Library (Beta) yet.

    Not really, here's what I'm doing

    1) open a specific album on Aperture.

    2) select all photos (around 340)

    3) click share, iCloud, on a new photo stream

    4) the resulting Photo stream has 20 pictures, the rest of the pictures are not going to the new Photo Stream...
