Dec 1, 2014 10:49 AM in response to Mavrick2003by Phil0124,An Apple Domain email address is in most cases already an Apple ID in and of itself. It cannot be the primary email address of another Apple ID.

Dec 1, 2014 10:53 AM in response to Phil0124by Mavrick2003,My Apple email address is NOT my Apple ID, but I want it to be..
My Apple email address isn't associated to another Apple ID....
When I Manage my Apple ID and select my Apple email address as my primary email, it won't let me...
This is strange and needs to be address... Doesn't make any sense at all!

Dec 1, 2014 11:45 AM in response to Mavrick2003by Phil0124,What is your Apple email? @icloud.com? @me.com?
You cannot use an Apple email because it is an Apple ID on its own already. Even if you don't use it as such, Apple treats them as Apple ID's at the server level.
So trying to set an Apple Email address is like using a Google Email address to access email form a different google email address. It cannot work.

"You cannot use an Apple email because it is an Apple ID on its own already??" How does that make sense, even at a server level..
John Smith has johnsmith@me.com, that's an Apple ID... John Smith can use johnsmith@me.com, johnsmith@icloud.com to login to icloud..
However, John Smith can't use johnsmith@me.com as his primary email address for an Apple ID???
What are we talking about...??
I have a friend that has albertsmith@me.com, he was an old MobileMe client.. he has @me and @icloud accross the board and it works perfectly..
itunes, icloud, App store all use albertsmith@me.com, why can't I??

Dec 2, 2014 7:57 AM in response to Mavrick2003by Phil0124,He logs in to both services with the @me.com account. The @me account is an apple ID for him as well as his email address. You can do the same if you log in directly using your @me account. But you cannot set your @me email address as the primary email address for another Apple ID.
You have an apple ID that is not your @me account. xxxx@somethingelse.com Then you have an account that is xxxxx@me.com These 2 are different Apple IDs.
Your friend has single ID @me.com This account was migrated by Apple at some time to be an Apple ID. Like your @me.com email address was.
If you log in in with your @me.com email address to any Apple service such as the iTunes store then it functions as an Apple ID.
