Q: Why is AppleTV trying to take my IP address?

My MacBook Pro stalls during browsing and has trouble trying to resolve hosts. Looking in the console messages I noticed the following lines.

9/23/14 12:53:10.961 PM configd[26]: DHCP en1: defending IP 192.168.1.15 against BonjourSleepProxy 58:55:ca:26:bf:ad 1 (of 5)

9/23/14 12:53:11.000 PM kernel[0]: en1 duplicate IP address 192.168.1.15 sent from address 58:55:ca:26:bf:ad

That MAC address belongs to my AppleTV. The AppleTV was configured to use DHCP.

I changed the AppleTV to use a fixed IP address. I am still having the same issue. Now I see the following messages in console.

9/26/14 10:28:14.703 PM configd[26]: MANUAL en1: defending IP 192.168.1.50 against BonjourSleepProxy 58:55:ca:26:bf:ad 1 (of 5)

9/26/14 10:28:55.000 PM kernel[0]: en1 duplicate IP address 192.168.1.50 sent from address 58:55:ca:26:bf:ad

Why is the AppleTV doing this? Any ideas?
