Q: Windows 7 BSOD during installation

The weird thing is that, I was able to Bootcamp this computer before, multiple times. But two days ago, my Windows partition started BSOD. Nothing I did repaired my Windows HD, so I had to completely get rid of it and start over. Now, I have Yosemite installed, and the last time I partitioned my Mac, I was still on Mavericks. So maybe that could be it? I’m not entirely sure. I’ve tried Windows 8, and it said it isn’t supported on my Mac. I use a late 2013, 27 inch iMac with the latest version of Yosemite and Bootcamp 5.1.2.

Yosemite has changed the underlying storage management and uses CoreStorage volume manager. Disk Utility does not work very well for partitioning anymore. Command line tools have to be used. BCA should still work, unless there is an underlying CS issue.

Can you post the output of the following two commands from OSX Terminal?

    diskutil list

    diskutil cs list

The problem is that, during installation after it expands the Windows files, it throws me one of two errors:

    "Corrupt or missing data"

    "Network error"

I don't understand why it's giving me these errors as I've installed my copy of Windows 7 on this computer successfully multiple times since owning it. I got it in October 2013. I have the Upgrade version of Windows. I've tried downgrading back to Mavericks and it's still giving me errors when I try to install Windows 7 on Bootcamp.

You should use a 'full' installer, not an 'upgrade' installer.

What OSX Updates have you applied recently?

Just Yosemite. That's what I am confused about because I've used this same Windows installer Upgrade build for 2 years on both my 2011 and late 2013 iMac. I've only gotten this installation error after installing Yosemite upgrade, that Bootcamp stop accepting my Windows.

Yes, the validation in Yosemite became stricter.

Ahhh, I'm guessing I'm out of luck, then. Guess I will have to buy a new Windows OS Thank you for your help, though.

You have an option to install an older Windows version temporarily and then use this Upgrade Installer.

I'm having the issue where Bootcamp will not allow me to install any kind of version or OS of Windows. No matter what, after it extracts or expands the files during setup, once it reaches 99%, I get a service error or BSOD. I'm not sure what to do. I've tried creating a disk image of both Windows 7 and Windows 8, I tried creating a partition without Bootcamp and installing Windows from there, I've turned off my network, reseated my RAM, updated my drivers, tried to install via EFI Boot. Nothing is working.

    1. Run Disk Utility and Verify and Repair.

    2. Reboot and repeat step 1.

    3. OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM

    4. Try to install Bootcamp.

Okay, so I've tried all steps suggested, then went to try install Windows through Bootcamp, BSOD again when it was "Getting Files Ready For Installation" during the Setup process. I'm thinking of just taking it in to a licensed business that work with Macs and them figure it out and install. Or does Apple offer such services?

If you can go to the nearest Apple Store, they can diagnose the issue. If you have a Time Machine backup, you can also erase teh internal disk, and restore from TM backup and retry the Windows installation.

Yeah, no Time Machine backup on any of my Mac's internal HDs, only on my external HD and that has since been broken. I'll make the appointment tomorrow, I neeeed my Windows HD, I'm a week behind work because of it. Thank you so much for the help.

I suggest you make a new backup before you visit the Apple Store.

Is there a possible way to revert the HD back to pre-Yosemite internal updates myself? I know it'd involve erasing OS X and completely re-installing everything. I just have a very hard time trusting anyone with my Mac and so far I've fixed all issues myself.
