Dec 4, 2014 6:21 PM in response to Ivan Gottiby Warszawa,I have received the same "apple seed" invitation as well. I'm not sure if I'll participate because my WiFi issue was resolved by replacing the router (see earlier posts for additional details). From the letter received from Apple I understand that everyone can sign in for this beta testing program by following below steps. Good luck. I'm done playing with it. Have been troubleshooting the dropping WiFi issue for over two weeks.
"Alternatively, you can follow these steps manually:
Go to https://appleseed.apple.com, click on the "Sign in" button
Log in with your Apple ID. (If you do not have an Apple ID, you can get one at appleid.apple.com)
Link your Apple ID to our program (you will only need to do this once) using this invitation code:

Read and accept the Confidentiality Agreement
Accept the Invitation"

Dec 4, 2014 7:41 PM in response to tomstephens89by hanumanthan,Same wifi problem everybody is cribbing about.
Wifi drops intermittently and takes huge time to connect. Had to turn off and turn on wifi to get back the connection. This is very predominant when i my mac goes to sleep and wakes up though it happens even when i am working.
Appears that Apple has released a beta version of the 2nd patch fixing the wifi issues. Hoping that atleast this patch solves the problem.

Dec 4, 2014 11:17 PM in response to hanumanthanby BDKyle,Bad news. Using mid 2009 MBP (15 inch, 2.53 GH)
I wrote the following message below before I found a temporary fix (fix noted at end).
---
So I got the appleseed invitation and downloaded both upgrades. The first upgrade crashed chrome immediately and the second (which I was prompted to install shortly after the first), seemed fine for the first few hours.
About half and hour ago I got the tell-tale "lag" in browsing, wherein I promptly checked my wifi connectivity and true enough, it was down. I restarted as usual, but upon reboot, I have "no hardware installed" status when I click on my wifi icon (which has an "x" in it). This is certainly new. And I have tried resetting SMC, RAM and deleting sys config folder and been restarting dozens of times. Not sure what to do. I will try to make a genius appointment for tomorrow (Friday) and see if I can get diagnosis from that team regarding hardware. I have not been able to submit my crash report.
---
Fix: So I rebooted in safe mode and the wifi symbol was visible, but switched off (i.e. not listed as no hardware). I rebooted in safe mode (shift-start) and removed my deleted my config folder. I restarted as normal and was able to regain the hardware function. Diagnostic reports have been sent via feedback assistant. If anyone from apple is reading this please feel free to contact for more information via phone/email.

Dec 5, 2014 1:52 AM in response to jf3wioeajfodjfby Florian Innocente,I'm seeing some improvements with the new OS X 10.10.2 beta that just shipped.
I use 2 iMac mid-2011 at home & work and they both have constant drops in connexions.
Sometimes twice in a row. I spend my time switching off & on my Wi-Fi. It's a bit early to say that Apple fixed the problem, but after 2 hours, I've had no problems with the iMac upgraded to the second beta of 10.10.2. Crossing my fingers…

Dec 5, 2014 2:32 AM in response to hanumanthanby Stan in London,I have a slight twist on all these. On my iMac, intermittently, on starting up in the morning only, I have internet that is too slow to load any pages and this can last for 30-50 minutes and then clears and works great the rest of the day. This happens on wifi AND ethernet cable. I have tried bypassing Apple router to the modem and still same problem. My iPhone, Macbook Air are unaffected and work via wifi when the iMac does not. I have rolled backed to Mavericks and will see if this works for awhile. My wife's iMac which never upgraded just started to have the same problem. I once "unblocked" the problem by using my iPhone as hot spot, the internet kicked into high gear and then immediately disconnected the hotspot and then the iMac was immediately able to use the wifi and ethernet perfectly. No one at Apple has a grip on this. Wifi, some admit to being aware of the issue, but ethernet is news to them. This has been frustrating. Lugging a 27 inch computer to an Apple store during Christmas shopping time.... what joy.

Dec 5, 2014 6:30 AM in response to BDKyleby LadyPac,I got the Yosemite pre-release email, too; I assume those of us who had been in contact directly with an Apple tech, are the "chosen ones."
I have been reluctant to install it (never thought it would come to this with Apple that "just works,") and now I think I will wait longer. Thanks for the update, BDKyle!

Dec 5, 2014 6:33 AM in response to Warszawaby LadyPac,Warszawa, I believe that is your personal invitation code and it might not be a good idea to post it on a public forum.

Dec 5, 2014 6:35 AM in response to LadyPacby Monty72,LadyPac, I um'ed and ar'ed about installing it, but it hasn't broken anything. Sadly it hasn't fixed anything either, at least not for me.
Bluetooth is still reducing my WIFI speeds. Not as much as before, now it seems to roughly halve it when on and the track pad connected.

Dec 5, 2014 6:44 AM in response to Monty72by LadyPac,Hi Monty72, I keep having the random connection drops on my mid-2012 MBP, several times a day, but it usually comes back just as randomly, without me changing anything, which is a lot better than what it used to be like, a month or two ago, when I would be unable to connect for days, so I am reluctant to try anything new at this point. This certainly is better than nothing...
I am grateful to those of you who post your experiences with the pre-release.

Dec 5, 2014 7:21 AM in response to LadyPacby eas2156,im up and running still, wifi is stable just a little slower than mavericks
trying to thinks of other things that might help...
-I was reading somewhere that someone used wireshark and found that yosemite was sending duplicate packets, which might explain why wifi is slow. I lost the url and can't find it though. sending duplicate packets is probably normal, but yosemite is sending more than normal.
-oh and after turning ipv6 off I rebooted the router, reset network settings on the iPhone and rejoined my ssid from each device...I always do this when I make changes but didn't think to mention it before
good luck

Dec 5, 2014 11:09 AM in response to LadyPacby Warszawa,Well, I'm not going to participate in the "apple seed" program because my computer after two weeks of troubleshooting is working properly. Beta testers are taking a certain risk to negatively affect their machines, beside spending a lot valuable time on testing and reporting. There are some forum members who after signing in with their personal information will be happy to help Apple with finding a solution to the WiFi issue. The above invitation code with a combination of personal password is good just for one entry. Also a confidentiality agreement has to be sign before proceeding which is legally bounding. The code has been already used and accepted by someone other than myself which means it wasn't so personal after all. Good luck to the person who decided to participate in the "apple seed" program.

Dec 5, 2014 11:35 AM in response to tomstephens89by Blondel de Néel,I don't know if someone posted this workaround, after so many pages with answers I assume it might. Anyway.
My wifi drops frequently and randomly. This might help, in the meantime:
IMPORTANT: you must follow these steps while you have wifi working ok.
1) Settings
2) Network
3) Assitant
4) Diagnose
5) Select your location, then Continue... (it doent's matter which location you choose).
6) And leave it there... if you don't close that window... wifi wont drop. Black magic? Maybe... but it worked for me. Once I close it, wifi will drop again.
NOTE: If you didn't have your wifi working, follow these steps, and keep going from step 5, until the asistant fixes it, then do all again as described in steps 1 to 6.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Dec 5, 2014 2:32 PM in response to Blondel de Néelby hexdiy,No one has posted this workaround in all of the posts in this thread, I'm sure (and I've been reading along with it since the beginning), so many thanks! Your step 5 and 6 seem the key points here.
Very good though unusual (who would ever think of it) tip, Blondel. Black Magic? No, most probably keeping
open the location window in Network Assistant, OSX either stays locked to that one location (thus not using Multicast DNS), or keeps pinging that one location (thus keeping your line open).
Neither solution is voodoo.
Possible solution #1: It seems the issue in this thread is heavily related to DNS resolving problems. Keeping OSX locked to one neatly resolved DNS (effectively meaning Unicast DNS, 1 line to your unique router, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anycast), as is probably the case in keeping your Network Assistant window open, will keep your WiFi/ network on track/connected.
Possible solution #2: An alternative solution to the issue in this thread has been to keep your network constantly connected, e.g. by streaming audio in the background. Otherwise AWLD and maybe other services (Discoveryd in general) may fall asleep, but upon waking start polling devices in a Multicast way. Thus disconnecting devices you may already have had online.
Keeping open the location window in Network Assistant may prevent some services to fall asleep, thus preventing Yosemite network services to go awry.
Either way, Blondel de Néel, I think you may accidentally have touched the mother lode here. Fingers crossed and thank you once more.

Dec 5, 2014 3:39 PM in response to tomstephens89by xavierfromnantes,I had problem with wifi connection. The connection was disconnected after 1 minute of use.
I solved the problem by changing my password. I choosed a new password without special characters. My previous password contained the character "+".
My new password contain only alphabetical characters and numbers.
Now it works.
(sorry for my bad english)

Dec 5, 2014 6:29 PM in response to MiguelDby nhcowboy,I may time machine back, to my previous Mavericks install before the Yosemite horror show mistake. At least I wouldn't have to stare at "The sweet meditative glow of a loading website". Some things are unaaceptable like having a mini Mac, brand new ac Airport Extreme $200.00 router, and $600.00 New iPad air2 that I can't use the internet effectively on. I shouldn't have to tinker endlessly on Yosemite to no avail; isn't it just supposed to work? To print a 955 kb USPS label download took fifteen minutes. I'm losing money in my business because of this, not happy Apple, not happy at all! I see Leggo people on Yahoo, pixelated downloading pictures 10X worse than dial up ever was. Having such headaches has soured me on Apple, wish now I never put faith they make a product that's user friendly (not) and works (not). I've probably destroyed my computer changing everything trying to just get online so maybe going back to Mavericks is best and restore it the way it used to work. NEVER, EVER, EVER, again will I update anything if updates destroy what worked. A computer with useless internet, what is this, the eighties?
