Q: notifications not working in 8.1.1

After migrating to 8.1.1 notifications don't work anymore on my 4s. When starting an app it asks to connect to iTunes for using push notifications but this doesn't help. Resetting the network doesn't help either.

Any hints?

iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1.1

    Hi there Tony,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

The article linked below provides a lot of great information about notifications and it also includes troubleshooting suggestions that’ll likely help you resolve the notifications issue with your iPhone 4S.

Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection.

Notifications use Wi-Fi only when a cellular connection is unavailable. Firewalls and proxy servers may affect your ability to receive notifications. For more information, see Unable to use Apple Push Notification service (APNs).

If you're not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:

    1. Verify that the app supports notifications.
    2. After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app to begin receiving notifications. If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
    3. Check Settings > Notification Center to ensure that the app is configured for notifications. If notifications do not appear in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.

    Take care,

    -Jason

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately it didn't help.

Notifications worked without any problems until 8.1.0. After migrating to 8.1.1 they don't work any more in any app.

    Regards,

    Tony
