Nov 23, 2014 6:36 AM in response to Muddasir31by Haliburtonfred,Just got off the Apple support line with a senior technician, they are very aware of the issue and are working on a patch/fix, in my case, its strictly "cosmetic" with no apparent downside or degradation ... just the persistent message .... my display of storage is in this state ..... so we wait for the fix.... if your having additional noticible degradation I would call Apple or followup on some of the outlined fixes if you have the technical expertise...... in all cases we need to lodge a TICKET so it gets noticed by Apple and tracked ..... regards Fred

Nov 23, 2014 9:12 AM in response to Haliburtonfredby ramartin5965,Was there for a long time, try the fix i used and see if it will work for you. If you really need to use you computer it will work in the safe mode.but if you choose to fix it, go to the recover mode and turn of the encryption after you ensure that the disk is verified and the permissions ok when you reboot it will decrypt and be back to normal with no lost of files as a matter of fact it seem to be working great look up my previous post. i am not sure I if this fix is as a result of the latest fix from apple which i had installed in safe mode or not some-one needs to tell me if they have the option without the fix. running ver 10.10.1

Nov 23, 2014 2:41 PM in response to zinnjdby rhangelxs,I resolved the issue with the following steps:
- Check that my drive stuck at encrypting by
diskutil cs list
sudo fdesetup status
- Reboot two times
- Execute a couple of times
sudo fdesetup disable
sudo fdesetup enable - Reboot in Rescue mode (cmd-R)
- Unlock the main partition (using the iCloud password, that the same as administrator password in my case)
- Repair permissions (fix smh like "ald" daemon)
- Repair the whole drive
- Boot in normal mode and wait on battery when optimizing process have been finished (about 5 minutes)
- Check that my drive stuck at encrypting by

Dec 2, 2014 7:21 AM in response to cybrhippyby cybrhippy,Sadly it got all the way down to 20 sec's of optimizing and then kicked back to the Encryption paused. Laptop was sitting on a table and There was no power outage.

Dec 6, 2014 11:18 AM in response to scafedeby boris.sb,Scafede solution worked for me.
I am on Macbook pro 13.3" with Retina Display bought last week (model MacbookPro 11,1).
I migrated just my Home directory and profile from a Mavericks Time Machine backup of my previous laptop, and left the default Filevault encryption option checked while the Migration assistant was setting up everything.
After a few hours, when the estimated time left was ~5 minutes I had to disconnect from power and put the machine to sleep, and when I woke it up and connected power again I got stuck with the "Encryption Paused/Connect to power".
After following Scafede procedure the countdown restarted and encrypting was finished in ~15 minutes. I have a 1TB disk with ~270 GB used, so I guess my encryption time is relatively short with respect to people with a fuller HD.

Dec 7, 2014 6:44 PM in response to Assignmentby richardfrommamaroneck,A "Senior Tech" asked me "Why do you need to encrypt" as well! Why would you not was my answer! I'm told my logic board is bad and they can send me a new computer in 2-3 weeks. Nice job Apple.

Dec 8, 2014 7:21 AM in response to zinnjdby randallfromNC,I am having the same issue one week old MBP. Not having any other symptoms, seems to be working fine. Something to have everyone check, I ran a diagnostic yesterday and it came back with only one issue, power supply showing a fault. My thinking is that the software is not allowing this because of power supply reporting an error. Have phone support appointment tonight will see what they say.

Dec 9, 2014 4:32 PM in response to Aaqib124by Hedgewig,I have this problem on a brand new Macbook Pro Retina Display 2.8GHz 1GB SSD running Yosemite 10.10.1. I have tried everything suggested in this thread and have spent hours on the phone to Apple Support (mostly in queues) who just asked me to do the usual resets. My File Vault screen is identical to that posted by d0ri0 on Oct 27. The completion bar is at the end but not finished. The Mac seems to be performing unaffected by this issue but I am unable to turn off encryption or move forward with its completion. Surely Apple you must be able to help us please? When I get time I will join another Apple Support queue and see if I can get anywhere but I really am beginning to wonder about Apple support.

Dec 9, 2014 4:38 PM in response to Hedgewigby ramartin5965,did you try the disk utility option to unlock and decrypt
-
Dec 9, 2014 4:56 PM in response to Hedgewigby TMB80,Hedgewig, this comment probably should be filed in the dumb category, but I'll try it anyway. Did you unlock the lock in the lower left in the System Preferences>Security & Privacy>FileVault window? I've been stuck like lots of others, but just recently tried unlocking the lock (again) and now "Turn off FileVault" is now active (not greyed out). I haven't turned FileVault off yet because I'm afraid of unintended consequences and I'm waiting for an Apple fix. Anyway, maybe you can now turn off Filevault if you try again with the lock unlocked. Just a thought...again, perhaps a dumb one.
