Jan 2, 2015 8:13 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby ronaries, thanks for reply. Might I ask if you incur with your hybrid HDD system any hesitation on the internet? My connection drops momentarily a couple of times a day - this issue started several weeks ago (Blk Friday) - occurs only with the Mac & its new Yosemite SS/HDD. I noted one other person in Amazon comment /feedback section mentioning similar issue...so I wonder if this might be hard drive related?
thanks for any information you can offer on this problem!

Open System Information (Option key down with the Apple Menu), and check Hardware>SATA/SATAExpress>your Seagate Drive. In "Medium Type" if it says rotational, TRIM won't apply.

No. Note that my Internet connection is totally wireless. I use modems that are directly connected via USB which may or may not make a difference.
Ciao.

Sep 22, 2016 4:20 PM in response to FatMac>MacProby Alan60,I have a WD I Terabyte hybrid hard drive with 8 GB of RAND and it was fast as anything until I filled the drive to about 80%. With some research I see that the solid state part runs slower. I did some more research and there is an very easy way using the terminal to enable trim that Apple says to try it but will take no responsibility. So much so they say to make sure I back up my drive, which I have, before I enable this trim.
I want to use it but when Apple warns you sternly that there might be issues I am not so sure, but I want somethin and really can't afford to buy a commercial version.
Any one have suggestions on using Apple's trim?
Thanks - Alan

Sep 22, 2016 9:00 PM in response to FatMac>MacProby Alan60,Thanks, you are right that's what I get,
I the hybrid part of the equation no longer serve any purpose if it can't be trimmed to be able to do the job intended? I thought trim was necessary to make it useful and longer lasting!
