Q: Can't download/install apps from Mac App Store

When I click "Get" and "Install App," nothing happens after that, no prompt for the Apple ID password appears. I have downloaded apps before with no problem. I have already tried clearing the App Store cache, cookies, and preference files, and resetting the PRAM, with no success.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I'm having the same issue. I was doing a clean install on my Macbookpro. I started with reinstalling my Snow Leopard discs and went to the app store to download mountain lion and.... nothing. I cannot get any of my apps. The App store won't even do anything when I try to get Yosemite. It's been going on for almost 2 days now.

Have you signed in with your Apple ID and authorized the computer?  Once you sign in, it should download past purchases.

I have a friend in the same boat - she just got a used Mac and I am her "helper". It's a mid-2010 iMac, on 10.6.not sure. LOL I was walking her through a purchase on the App Store and when she clicked the price and then buy/get, nothing happens. No drop down window that pops into the main window where you can enter your Apple ID or create one if you don't have one. I had her establish her Apple ID and get that party started, still nothing. Hard to find anything else out there on the web for solutions.

She's friends with the people that had the Mac before and they did do some cleaning up the hardware prior to giving it her, but nothing is obvious about fixing this issue. I asked her to double check with the friends. Glad to know that she's not the only one with this problem.

I am having exactly the same problem here. Just a week or so ago everything was working fine. Also, I have two computers, and iMac and a MacBookPro, no firewalls or virus software, and have the same situation on both computers. I think the problem is with Apple, not with my computers.

    Guten Morgen aus Deutschland,

es freut mich, dass ich nicht alleine bin. Habe schon an meinem Verstand gezweifelt.

Hello. I'm writing from Italy. It's more than 1 week that I found problems to update apps.

Now there is an update for Yosemite but I click on the button "update" and nothing happens.

    Please verify it.

    Thank you.

P.S. Same on Itunes...no possible to download updates.

Same problem here - thought we were going crazy. Macbook pro is 10.6.8. Will apple respond to this forum with a solution?

The problem seems to affect everyone with 10.6.8, so I would imagine so. It also restricts people from downloading Yosemite, which is a pretty big issue. There's similar threads in the Snow Leopard help forum.
