Dec 10, 2014 12:11 PM in response to kickit16by Sparkleberry,That's a beta release. So you can get it if you are a developer or participate in the AppleSeed program

Dec 10, 2014 2:03 PM in response to nhcowboyby cubism,Simple answer is, "It won't work"--according to someone else earlier on in this forum who tried.

Does anyone have the new Mac 27-inch: 3.5GHz with Retina 5K display? I have saved up for one but have pretty much ruled out even considering buying it now, after the dismal wifi connectivity problems on my mini mac that forced me to revert to Mavericks. I'm curious if wifi issues are plaguing even the flagship Mac? If I could fresh install Mavericks I would, I know I can get online with that. But since it comes with Yosemite I won't touch it. Maybe a time machine backup to my Mavericks system would work? Then again, it'd be stupid to buy the latest and greatest only to downgrade the operating system. Are there any owners of the 5K display that have wifi problems?

Dec 11, 2014 4:58 AM in response to PFJ30by mccosha,heh.
my 27" is upstairs, wireless atm, had not had the opportunity to upgrade - Maverick works like a charm in the wifi department.ha
My MBP, however, now is showing new symptoms - and apparently, this happened ALSO when Mountain Lion became Maverick. Sigh. One would think Apple learned SOMETHING from previous experiences...

Dec 11, 2014 11:49 AM in response to kickit16by cubism,I made a mistake yesterday, advising this forum that I was selected by Apple to test 10.10.2, and giving you a WiFi update. Apple takes it's NDA seriously.
Just wanted to let you know that having WiFi working correctly is a BIG priority for me, so I'll be doing my bit by turning WiFi inside out and upside down to ensure we all end up without the severe frustrations we've had.
I think I'm allowed to share that. I hope

Dec 11, 2014 12:02 PM in response to tomstephens89by mariocia,If you have Yosemite with a newer Mac (2012/13+), and are experiencing WiFi performance degradation, you may see some improvements by shutting down AirDrop.
To do so fully, you can install WiFriedX (via https://medium.com/@mariociabarra/wifriedx-in-depth-look-at-yosemite-wifi-and-aw dl-airdrop-41a93eb22e48). Full details on what it does and why at that link. Would love to hear back from those who try.

Dec 11, 2014 12:39 PM in response to nhcowboyby PFJ30,I am so sorry nhcowboy, I only just realised your reply was to me.
I don't think I can help much except to say that 1) your cabling is the way i think always did it and 2) since using BT Home HUb the router/modem are in 1 unit. (I believe!)
I think I saw some similar replies so am hoping you weren't left too long without a reply. Appeals again.

Dec 11, 2014 1:30 PM in response to cubismby hexdiy,To no one in particular again, Cubism is the closest by mentioning turning over his WiFi.
Somewhere along this monster thread my attention was raised to checking my DNS providers via Namebench http://code.google.com/p/namebench/
This turns out to be an excellent hint. Running Namebench has left me with lots of interesting data to analyse, along with a far faster internet experience to boot.
Seeing probably most issues in this thread have to do with DNS resolving issues, maybe reading up on mDNSResponder for Mavericks and earlier, Discoveryd for Yosemite might get you some progress.
Running a Namebench analysis and changing your DNSes according to its results just might get you going again with Yosemite.
Sorry if I keep trying, but Apple themselves are not exactly helpful here, are they?

Dec 12, 2014 1:38 AM in response to tomstephens89by Kiwi5555,I'm not seeing the WiFi drop-outs or slow speeds that many people are reporting but Yosemite just won't play nice with my Time Capsule.
I have the TC (firmware v7.6.4) running 2.4 & 5 GHz WiFi connections and I connect my rMBP (OS X 10.10.1) via the 5GHz WiFi. Incidentally, I get the same issue if I connect via the 2.4GHz WiFi.
I use the disk on the TC as NAS and when using Finder to connect to the disk on the TC it will invariably time-out. The only way that I have found that I can get a connection is to open AirPort Utility (v6.3.4), this also fails to connect to the TC and will time-out.
But then when I go back to Finder and try to connect again it works and as soon as the connection with Finder is open, AirPort also immediately gets a connection to the TC. I have to get both applications to time-out before I can get any connection the disks on the TC - weird!
This connection then stays live for a a few hours, if not all day, but usually by the next morning I have to repeat this process.

Dec 12, 2014 1:44 AM in response to Florian Innocenteby Florian Innocente,Ok, the party is over.
After a few days without sudden drops in my connexions (except once) on my two home and work iMac (mid-2011), the problem is back big time (for the record I use OS X 10.1.2 b2). I went back to the Ethernet connexion at work.
I just don't get why, it was working like a charm for the first time in weeks and weeks and nothing has changed around.

Dec 12, 2014 1:58 AM in response to Florian Innocenteby OceanDrifter,It is the unpredictability that is baffling
I have had the occasional 4 hour period without a problem. Then the other day a firestorm of drops culminating in a "no wifi hardware" found upon a restart. A few restarts later WiFI was back, then dropped, then "no wifi hardware" found. That situation now hasn't reappeared for a couple of days. WiFI still drops frequently though.
It is almost as if there is a kernel panic somewhere. This is emphasised by the mac always restarting under the following situation:
WiFi drops
WiFi won't turn Off
Mac Mail won't quit
Make WiFI inactive and Delete service and Apply (network prefs)
Mac freezes
Mac shuts down and restarts
WiFi active on restart - apart from the other day when I got "No WiFi hardware found"

Dec 12, 2014 2:42 AM in response to tomstephens89by iM iMac,As far as I am concerned, this is a major Apple screw-up, and I write as a 30 year Apple fan. Under Yosemite, none of the Macs in my building can access the internet for more than a few minutes before massive internet failure. The PC users sail on just fine. :-(

Dec 12, 2014 6:02 AM in response to iM iMacby Julchen15,For me it's a weird situation. At home my Wifi (provided through a FritzBox 7330) is stable and as fast as before, no issues here at all since the update.
However when I'm trying to use Wifi at university I have the same issues that others have. I try to connect, everything seems to work just fine, but then after a few seconds sites stop loading and I can't use the internet at all. In the last month I had on maybe four days a stable wifi connection at university, on the other days no connection, it's frustrating.
I'm using a MacBook Pro (2011), work arounds like the one with AWDL didn't work for me (interface does not exist), I'm hoping that Apple will provide a fix soon.
