Dec 18, 2014 9:08 PM in response to Divjot29by ajith_48,Ok here is the solution. I Have tried and tested. 100% working. There is no issues with the ios. It is just the carrier update which is causing the problem. According to Airtel, there will be only 3G and 4G from 2015 onwards in India. So they have jump in front of time and updated their carrier setting with the new one. And it affected the battery life very badly. What i have done is port my number to Vodafone. And everything become normal. 2G/3G toggle is back, battery even lasts for atleast 2 days. This is the ultimate solution for this.

Jan 11, 2015 4:14 AM in response to Divjot29by Ishwar Jindal,If not yet then see Understanding LTE options on your iPhone - Apple Support. In India, Airtel supports LTE (i.e. 4G) and as per link if your operator support LTE then you won't get option to switch 2G/3G. It seems it is like if 4G is supported then all you can toggle is 4G on OR 4G off.
The option to switch between 2G and 3G is available when your operator supports 3G at the maximum.

Jan 19, 2015 9:48 AM in response to Divjot29by pankajnse,i used airtel with ip 6 plus and the mobile settings did not have options to enable/disable 2g/3g/lte after update to ios8.1. i spoke to airtel people, they are claiming it is pending update from apple for their carrier settings which is not controlled by them. i knew that was lie,i switched to voda and now i can select 2g from settings. its all good now.

Jan 29, 2015 1:21 AM in response to ajith_48by kunj_r,I live in India. I was using Airtel on my iPhone 5(UK model), there 2g/3g toggle was coming with ios 8.1.1 (not in 8.1). Then I switched to iPhone 6(T-mobile US) with the same sim card and there the toggle is missing only 3g is getting enabled. If Airtel is not supporting then it should not be coming in my iPhone 5 also. Any answers?

Feb 6, 2015 11:33 PM in response to Divjot29by sAcRock3R,I spoke to Airtel. And Airtel confirmed that, they are not gonna add this feature as they feel most high end phone users use 3G/4G & want to force users to use 3G/4G. So the only way to get it back is to move out of Airtel.

Feb 27, 2015 1:04 PM in response to kunj_rby sayhi2sinha,i have the same issue, today i bought IPhone 5s and updated to iOS 8.1.3 and I found that the toggle option is missing. However the same Airtel connection, the same SIM i was using on my Iphone 5 and it has all the toggle options available.
I switched between the phones and I can see that it is working for 5 but not for 5S. my SIM is on roaming since last 3.5 years in Bangalore and I dont know whom to contact Apple or Airtel ... Coz both of them are blaming each other.
