Q: iCloud drive does not update on Yosemite

Hey I have a problem with iCloud drive on Yosemite.

I already used iCloud Drive on my Windows PC and on icloud.com. Now after i updated my MacBook Air to Yosemite the iCloud Drive Folder does not download all my files and folders i created on Windows or icloud.com. I have about 15 folders in iCloud Drive which I can access and update on iCloud on Windows and icloud.com. But on Yosemite the only folders iCloud drive downloaded are Pages and Quicktime Player. I am already waiting for about 2 hours but iCloud Drive does not download the other files from iCloud. Why? on Windows and icloud.com it works perfect but on Yosemite is doesn't. I already tried signing out and back in again on iCloud on Yosemite it but didn't help.

Any suggestions?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Creating a folder or drive worked for me.

    • I created a folder on my iCloud drive called "MakeitSync"
    • I created a word file in this folder called "Sync iCloud drive by making a new document"
    • And Abracadabra it synced
    • Would be nice if Apple could get to the root cause though......

This does not fix the problem for me. Nothing fixes the problem. We have to wait for Apple to release an update.

Nothing has worked for me either. Although based on helpful ideas here, I can access most my docs on my iPhone now.  I deleted and reinstalled pages and it downloaded most of my docs so I can see them at least on my iPhone 5.  There were still twenty of them that never completely downloaded. I even let it try over night!  The iphone still does not  sync with the cloud.  We shouldn't have to work so hard to get back what worked before the upgrade!

I have syncing issues with iCloud Drive between my PowerBook & iMac. If I kill (-9) cloudd and bird, they respawn and that usually takes care of the problem. To see what's happening, issue the command "syslog -d /var/log/com.apple.clouddocs.asl -w 10". After you kill cloudd and bird, you should see a bunch of downloads.

I believe I just found a solution for my problem.

On your iOS device go to Settings -> iCloud -> Storage -> Manage Storage -> Other Documents ->  Edit -> Delete All (Backup first if you haven't already)

And that's it. I have done this and now if I create folders or put files in iCloud drive on Yosemite, iCloud.com or Windows (had to reinstall iCloud on Windows) it now gets uploaded and synced as it should. And its syncing really fast.

This fixed it for me and I hope it works for you too.

I did exactly what was suggested to my two MacBooks and now they are both syncing.

I did all of the above solutions (except the iOS one since two Mac computers here). None worked and the one about deleting library files caused some files not to reappear.  Finally I rebooted both computers, and after some delay (several minutes not hours), the recent updates started appearing.  No idea if they will stay in sync. This is a real problem for doing things like sharing spreadsheet work between laptop and desktop Macs. Apple please fix!
