Oct 30, 2014 3:11 PM in response to LenorefromWayneby Scouselady,I have tried several restores using iTunes and have had several long 'phone calls with Apple. My iPad mini is still slow when I type with letters lagging behind what I type. Most annoyingly, when I do a search in Safari and get the list of websites I cannot open them unless I first 'pinch' the screen to enlarge or minimise the page. Once I have done this I can open a website. This is all since IOS8. I am really fed up with Apple. They have really messed up my iPad. The problem, as agreed by Apple, seems to be with Safari.

Oct 30, 2014 4:06 PM in response to Star Travelerby icybar,Thank you very much for your detailed post. I was very nervous of doing a factory reset because I wasn't sure if I would lose data despite backing up on iCloud and iTunes. Having read the links I went ahead. In fact, it was straightforward and my iPad is much improved, nearly back to iOS 7. Actually useable again, so thank you very much.

Nov 1, 2014 4:33 AM in response to Star Travelerby LenorefromWayne,Yes thank you Star Traveler for all your info. I took a snapshot of your response just in case. An Apple rep walked me through the full recovery and restore procedure on my IPad 2. It seems to not freeze as much but I am still seeing the spinner next to the Wi-Fi icon at the top left. Just reminds me too much of my four year old laptop. I do not remember seeing a spinning circle before the IOS 8. My faith in Apple has diminished big time after this debacle

Dec 16, 2014 2:52 PM in response to Pkosterby sinter,I tried everything I could think of including wiping the iPad. The only thing that helped was turning on the airplane mode for some reason. Also, I ditched Safari for the Mercury Browser. Now it works about 90% as well as it did before iOS 8. Looks like apple wanted to increase their revenue stream with the new pay system and didn't care if it made older model iDevices almost unusable.
