First is to try a different cable. Second is to try a different TV or different port on your TV. Make certain that you have the proper input selected on the TV when you connect the cable.
You do need to make certain that the iPad to HDMI adapter is indeed genuine Apple.

Nov 24, 2014 9:12 AM in response to raymond73by tonyfromnorfolk,I ran my iPad through my TV using the same hdmi lead without any problems before udating to ios8. Since updating I get nothing. I have tried two different TVs and different ports on each. The message I get is 'this accessory is not supported by this iPad'.

Nov 24, 2014 10:19 AM in response to tonyfromnorfolkby Ralph9430,It's not the HDMI cable that is the likely culprit. It is the adapter that connects the iPad to the HDMI cable. If you are indeed using an iPad 2 then you have a 30 Pin to HDMI adapter. That's most likely what's causing your problem.
Did you try resetting your iPad? Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

Nov 24, 2014 10:59 AM in response to Ralph9430by tonyfromnorfolk,Hi Ralph, Thanks for the advice but I have tried that and I'm still getting the accessory not recognised message. This does seem to be a problem that others elsewhere in the community also seem to have suffered but there have been no answers given by Apple to resolve it.

Nov 25, 2014 8:59 AM in response to tonyfromnorfolkby tonyfromnorfolk,- I'm not sure why, but apparently my Hdmi cable is only compatible with my iPad 2 up to iOS 7 but not iOS 8.
- Why Apple should feel it necessary to include that as part of the update I don't know.
- I have now ordered a new HDMI connection lead!
- Not best pleased.

Nov 25, 2014 8:56 AM in response to tonyfromnorfolkby raymond73,Is your adapter truly made by Apple or is it some third party purchase?

Nov 25, 2014 9:06 AM in response to raymond73by tonyfromnorfolk,It was a third party product. Maybe I need to refer it to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission!!!

Nov 25, 2014 6:26 PM in response to tonyfromnorfolkby raymond73,The issue is not with the HDMI cable. The issue is with your adapter from the iPad to HDMI. There is intelligence in the adapter that communicates to the iPad that the device is Apple. If that confirmation does not exist the adapter is rejected. You will need a genuine Apple adapter.

Dec 16, 2014 3:49 AM in response to raymond73by Stepgar10,Not convinced by your aanswer at all I think it is a update issue. Think about it, worked fine on iOS 7 but not 8 ? Not rocket science. It is either a bug which I hope gets sorted of indeed Apple are compete money grabbing tarts who have installed a 3rd party block on it cables. Not sure Apple would go that far? here's holding that they sort it out soon from a bug point of view or at least be honest and tell us.

I have an HDMI cable from Apple, purchased almost two years ago. Worked fine with IOS 6, IOS7 and IOS 8. Works on my iPad and iPhone. My experience indicates that the update is not the problem. Your issue may just be coincidence that the adapter chose that time to fail.
Apple are compete money grabbing tarts who have installed a 3rd party block on it cables.
Apple installed the block on third party devices to avoid damaging their product. There is nothing sinister in that behavior. Apple does not want to support problems caused by other companies products.

Dec 16, 2014 4:32 PM in response to tonyfromnorfolkby raymond73,Never ceases to amaze me that people will pay $500.00+ for a device then quibble over a $10.00 price difference in a cable, then complain when the cable fails that Apple is ripping them off. All to avoid paying Apple for a product that Apple guarantees will work and comes with a warranty.
