Dec 4, 2014 11:48 AM in response to randers4by bling1818,I have this issue, I have Icloud on my Iphone and it will not allow me to delete the account unless I log in. I know the username and password are correct because I have logged into my Ipad Icloud with this account just now and it works. How do I remove the Icloud setting on the Iphone so I can get back into Icloud on my phone.
It appears that I have locked the Icloud on my phone.

Dec 4, 2014 2:24 PM in response to bling1818by gail from maine,Sorry, not sure what you mean? When you go to Settings>iCloud, is the ID that is showing your ID? And when you say that it wants you to "log in" are you referring to when you go to the bottom of the screen and click on Sign out/Delete, that it is asking for your iCloud password?
What I'm not understanding is if the ID showing is your iCloud ID, why are you needing to sign out?
Cheers,
GB

Dec 16, 2014 7:47 PM in response to maddie62by gail from maine,Hi maddie,
I presume you are attempting to follow the instructions on page 2 of this thread? And that is because your iCloud account is still signed onto that hotmail version of your Apple ID, and it also has Find My iPhone signed on?
If the answers to the questions above are all yes, what happens when you attempt to change your existing Apple ID back to the hotmail ID without verifying it? Are you getting some sort of error? If so, what is it?
Cheers,
GB

Dec 16, 2014 8:33 PM in response to gail from maineby maddie62,Cheers GB!
Red ink message:
This email address is not available to use as an Apple ID.
Then a window pops saying, Apple id must;
be a valid email address,
be available, &
not use a domain owned by Apple...
It won't let me save it, switch it, even temporarily.
THANKS,
: D

Dec 16, 2014 10:26 PM in response to maddie62by gail from maine,Well I'm not sure I'm understanding what is going on. I just logged onto one of my Apple IDs and edited my Apple ID email to gail@totallyfake.com, and although the little box saying the "Mus be a Valid email address" came up, as soon as I put @totallyfake.com, it turned green and allowed me to change my Apple ID to that email (even though it clearly is not valid).
Are you certain you are not clicking on the Verify button?
Cheers,

Jan 2, 2016 11:28 AM in response to randers4by z00my,This solution no longer works. I called in to Apple Support, and had to request TIER TWO support before i was able to get around this problem. Apple has changed the way they address this problem. The work-around that USED TO WORK but NO LONGER WORKS is to temporarily change the apple ID (on a computer) to the old one. If you try that now, you will be told that a verification code will be sent to the OLD ADDRESS. This is not a solution that worked for me, because in my case the old address was no longer in use.
The solution, as of Jan 2 2016 is this:
1. On your device (iPhone, iPad), go to settings, iCloud
2. On the next screen, tap your account near the top. You will be asked for your Apple ID passworrd
3. Enter your CURRENT PASSWORD that you use with your CURRENT APPLE ID (don't worry that the password doesn't match the password as it used to be with your old apple ID. It should accept your current password
4. Once in, you can delete the account, and enter your new Apple ID and password.
Note: if you are concerned about losing any information associated with the old Apple ID, then do a backup to your computer first.

Jan 3, 2016 8:25 AM in response to z00myby gail from maine,Thank you for posting the updated solution! Much easier (this, of course will only work if the old ID that is signed on is an ID that was used on for that same Apple account. If it is a totally separate Apple ID, then the ID itself needs to have its password changed.
Appreciate the update!

Apr 30, 2016 10:25 PM in response to randers4by sagerock1,Hi, I have the same problem that my Apple id is changed but not my iCloud, but when I go to delete my account there's no option only to sign out. I don't want to sign out because it says "all iCloud Drive stored in iCloud will be removed". What should I do?
-
Apr 30, 2016 10:33 PM in response to sagerock1by gail from maine,You need to sign out and then sign back in with your updated ID. And the message does not say that the iCloud Drive data stored in iCloud will be removed. It says that iCloud Drive data stored in iCloud will be removed from this phone. It is not removed from iCloud - it is removed from the device only.
If the updated ID is the same Apple account, then it will all be pushed back when you sign back on with your updated ID info. If it is a totally separate Apple ID, then you will no longer have access to the iCloud data stored for that Apple account.
Cheers,
GB

Sep 29, 2016 11:56 AM in response to EliteGaming1023by Eric Root,If you are the original owner, take the phone, the original purchase receipt, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.
