Q: How to restore purchases from my iPhone on my iMac?

I have about 100 or so songs that I've purchased over the year that are on my iPhone but not my iMac.  They show that they've been downloaded (no cloud download icon next to them), but when I go to play the songs it opens in finder and I can't find them.  I'm well versed in finding where songs live on a hard drive (I work in the music industry and do this all day long).  I'm perplexed that I'm unable to find them on my iMac.  I need to upgrade my phone soon, but don't want to loose these songs.  Is there a way to restore purchases?

iMac, iOS 8.1.2

    Several ways:

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "... back up your iTunes library. " (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

You may need to delete broken link entries first or else iTunes will think you already have them in your library even though the links are broken.
