When getting Error (-50) in iTunes, the following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for resolving the issue:
iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content - Apple Support
"Error (-50)" appears when you download purchased videos
You may be able to fix the issue by deleting the cached video files for the download and resuming your download.
To find the cached video downloads:
- Navigate to the downloads folder on your computer:
- OS X: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads
Note: The tilde (~) refers to your Home directory. - Windows Vista: \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
- Windows 7 and Windows 8: \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
- Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
- OS X: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads
- Locate the folder that contains the cached video file for this purchase:
- Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: The folder will be named for the purchased video, and the name will end with .tmp (for example, The Dundies.tmp).
- Windows XP and Windows 2000: The folder will be named for the purchased video, and the name will end with .m4v.tmp (for example, The Dundies.m4v.tmp).
- Move the .tmp folder for the affected video to the Trash or Recycle Bin.
- Open iTunes.
- Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
- Enter your account name and password.
- Click the Check button.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.
